Danny Geale was super impressive in his last bout. He is a type of boxer that we rarely produce- a very well schooled technical boxer. Most of our even remotely world class boxers are of the tough-as-teak banger pressure fighter variety (ala Green, Briggs, Katsidis, etc even Fenech). Even the exceptions to this rule - the Chocs and Cool Willie Kicketts of the world - tend to be of the freak athlete with great handspeed and natural ability as opposed to being especially technical boxers. So, to me, Danny Geale is a breath of fresh air for Aussie boxing. I do though find it quite ironic that Fenech is training a technical boxer, but I digress.

My question to the forum is: where do you see Geale going from here, in terms of potential opponents, titles to aim at etc? And what would you recommend, if you were controlling his career?

    Cheers.

Fenech is a hero to Geale and he feeds off his belief in him. I also think Fenech makes Geale hungry for a fight, not just a boxing match, and it works well, sometimes early in Geales career he looked too nice to be a boxer, i think Fenech is good for him in general.

Graham George (Tasmanian :yep ) taught Geale all his boxing skills from the age of 9 through to the time he moved to Syd to train with Fenech. Graham is a tough trainer and makes you work really hard on fitness and technique.

Geale is pushing hard for his next fight to be in Tassie, hopefully Launceston, his home town. But i doubt they would match him too tough, id love to see him smash S Taylor, but he doesnt deserve a chance. Pitman doesnt seam to want a fight with Geale, not scared, just goin down a different path.

Geale should start fighting good imports, not just from Asia, then after 3 title defences, have a shot at America, Fenech/Hyder should be able to get him a fight.

Id love to see Geale fight Sergio Mora now, he would school him and get huge exposure.

Are there any Geale fights available on the net? Got to admit I've read about the guy a lot on here but I haven't seen him fight and would like to.

    Brilliant Geale chases Taylor

SYDNEY middleweight sensation Daniel Geale will target a bout with two-time world title challenger Shannan Taylor next year before chasing honours overseas.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist was simply brilliant in dismantling previously undefeated Perth power puncher Daniel Dawson at Wests Campbelltown last Friday night.
Geale executed his fight plan superbly, nullifying Dawson's power with a razor sharp jab and a non-stop workrate.
He survived a cut eye to claim the IBO world middleweight title and notch his 18th consecutive win since turning pro after winning the welterweight gold at the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002.
"This has been 12 months in the making," Geale said. "My trainer Jeff Fenech did so much for me, he's the one who got me up for this win.
"I knew Dawson was going to come on strong all night but with Jeff by my side I knew he couldn't hurt me.
"I got cut early but Jeff settled me down."
Two judges gave the Tasmanian-born Geale every round against Dawson, who was unbeaten in his previous 29 fights, and had won a world kickboxing title along the way.
After being outboxed in the first five rounds Dawson came on strong in the sixth, the sight of blood from Geale's cut eye urging him on.
But Geale stayed on top, boxing superbly behind accurate counters.
Told by Fenech after round 10, "You're taking this guy to school. Just keep boxing the way you are and you've got it. Don't get careless, you're boxing beautifully", Geale came out in round 11 and rocked Dawson with another big right.
Dawson tried to fight back but he just couldn't cope with Geale's silky boxing skills.
"Daniel Geale is good enough to fight for a major world title now," Fenech said.

Typical Fenech crap that Geale is ready for a major world title now. He has the potential to do that . Fights with Taylor and then a progressive step up eg Joval & maybe 2 more at that kind of level is whats needed. This is classic Fenech stuff. Look at the lead up fights Skinny & Hussy had before the major step ups. Fenech did them no favours. Lets hope that the Grange Old School team don't let Jeff take over.Smart matching is what Geale needs.

I'd like to see him in with some of the older world contenders, like a fight with Howard Eastman after he rests up after his fight with duddy.
Even give him a fight with Joval.
Just some opponents like this to build up the world class resume.

Yeah Joval & Eastman are solid names that they could attract.
I reckon Sergio Mora is right for the picking too.

But yeah locally i reckon hammer Shannan Taylor into retirement first.
Then i could see him facing a Sam Soliman maybe in a few more fights.

I agree. Taylor is a shell of his former self, and would be a good regional name for Geale to have on his resume.

Im waiting for him to call out Geale soon, wouldnt surprise me at all. I wanna see Choc beaten by a fellow aussie, but it isnt going to happen, Choc will go down at the best untested fighter ever!!

Dont make me diss Geale, but yeah, i could take him if i had too.

But id rather go with him then against him.

Leckie? you got any info on who wants Geale now?

I wonder if Junior would chase a fight with him? Is Junior ranked with any of the top 4 belts?
