Yep he was controlling the fight until he copped a couple of bombs which resulted in a really bad cut above the eye,but he responded well and knocked his opponent down in the last rd.

My sentiments exactly.I had never heard of him before getting on ESB and I've been onboard for the past few years. In the time that I've been onboard ESB,I've seen him mentioned only a few times, and never in a manner that he was being hyped up.I've never seen him fight and have never heard his name mentioned on tv.

He's been an ESPN in-studio analyst for quite a while now.

I can't remember anyone hyping him either.None of my friends that follow boxing have never even uttered his name in my company-even while watching fights or just generally discussing boxing. And I've only seen a few threads on these boards that mention his name.If it weren't for ESB,I would have never heard of him.Maybe he's hyped in other countries as a possible or viable opponent for one of their own,but he's a no-name where I'm from.

Cheers. The only time I watch ESPN is to watch footie.I didn't even know they covered boxing,as their emphasis is usually on traditional American team sports like baseball, basketball or gridiron,as well as their recent expanded emphasis on footie.I'll have to look him up on ESPN just to see what the fuss is about on these boards.

yes he was an analyst for a bit on ESPN, but that doesn't mean he was a hype job. I've never heard anyone hyping him up to be anything other than a decent American CW, and guess what, that's what he turned out to be. he lost a very boring decision to Danny Green, but it's not like Green impressed many people, Flores is just average

It looks like people are slowly, slowly starting to warm to the idea that Green may be a solid cruiserweight.

When he beat Roy, there was not one single person on this board who said "Green may be better than we thought" it was all "This just proves how bad Roy is"

Now he has fought his way to be ranked 7th by Ring magazine, and may even jump up a spot or two based on last night.

I don't think he is a worldbeater, but I guess it is nice that he is starting to get respect as a solid fighter.

He isn't terrible, but any current holder of one of the 4 "real" CW belts would absolutely mop the floor with him...as would several contenders.

Your assessment would ring much truer if it were about light heavyweight, but who knows if he can even make that now. :conf

Exactly, he'd be dangerous for anybody at 175.

I've noticed since his comeback, Green's counter left hook has dramatically improved. In fact he barely ever used it back in the day, going after the big shots.

I'll admit I've had my criticisms with Green on occasions, but I really enjoyed watching him outbox and display patience and smart fighting.
