Danny Green: Forget Lebedev, I Wants Bernard Hopkins!

I don't get it. Most people have Hopkins in their top 10 P4P lists - and he is only one division away from Green's division.

How is challenging a guy who is one weight class different and top 10 P4P cherrypicking? Especially when Green is getting older himself and is a small cruiser.

We will agree to disagree but bj was doing everything he could to be below the 195(went naked at the weigh-in) and green called him greedy for taking the xtra $$$$$ to come in lighter,
We will prob never no as he has stated that there is no money in fighting any of the top cruisers, funny considering the BJ fight.
I would have thought a unification fight for IBF,WBA,WBC would have made more cash than Green v Flores.

 

yep fair enough i agree there was incentives to come in a bit lighter but it was bjs decision imo. i think that whoever green fights in australia will make a fair bit of cash, i think what hes doing is good, hes bringing out big names and getting them all over the country, to drum up support for boxing and himself of course, but his undercards are always fantastic and he gives great opportunities to lower level boxers eg matt garlett and pieter cronje. I think if b hops fights and loses to dawson i can see him fighting green.

There was no tv revenue outside of Australia for Green-Jones but Jones still got paid somewhere in the region of 5 million I think

what nobodys mentioned is the exchange rate at the moment, aussie dollar is killing the american dollar , which could tempt b hop to come here and make even more of a killing

 

As it's virtually all about the money these days the unusually strong Aussie $ is a factor not to be ignored.

massive props for doing it.but look at the reaction here from Americans.noone cares about Danny Green outside of Australia and although this fight would sell well here in Oz in America nobody cares.they would rather see him fight Bute or even dull Dawson.

I think there is a lot of dislike for Green in the US because of the Toney sparring session and the RJJ KO. They know who Green is, they just don't like him.
