Yes I'm deeply hurt he beat a shot RJJ and Blowjob Flores. My heart is broken.:verysadIf Green actually beat a world class prime fighter no matter his nationality I would give him respect. I liked Green and actually thought he would beat Jones but fight Siaca and Briggs after at his own weight and now fighting Tarver? I've lost all respect for him. He's nothing but another Mundine and the fact that you Aussie's are defending it and even seem proud of it is sickening.

He's taking some big money fights before retiring. Why shouldn't a boxer, who has paid their dues, try to set themselves up in their last couple of fights?

Sure, the diehard boxing fans know that the fights don't mean much. But they should be a little forgiving - when a guy has spent a career putting their health on the line then they deserve those last final paydays.

When guys like Hopkins are out there fighting the best opponents they can and has done way more in his career then Danny Green has ever done its hard to respect him for that. Green's career has been laughable and the fact that he's a big attraction in Australia doesnt mean that he should be able to fight whoever he wants esp when he isnt even fighting good fighters to earn a shot at guys like Hopkins.

Hopkins can stay at 175 and fight much better fighters make big money and enhance his legacy much more then moving up to Dannyweight and fighting Green. And if he is gonna move up to Cruiser why not fight the top fighters in that division like Cunningham, Huck, Jones ect

Green doesnt deserve a fight against Hopkins so either he should take fights that earn him a shot or keep fighting these bull**** side show fights he's been fighting and the Aussie public have blindly supported and STFU.

So then - you're not even QUALIFIED to discuss Green with people who have seen all of his latest fights, would you agree? :think

You're in NO position to judge whether someone is just "irrationally hating" or bandwagon jumping with their opinion when you yourself are ignorant on the topic and therefore not entitled to an opinion of your own. Would you agree?

If by "since his comeback" you mean after that long layoff ('07 to '09), then yeah - I've seen most of those fights (except van Niekerk). That entitles me to an opinion. If you haven't seen them...you have no leg to stand on in a discussion with someone who has. Would you agree?

You don't like seeing anti-Green talk, OK. Maybe if you actually watched his career "since his comeback" you'd be clued into why there is anti-Green talk...instead of needing to resort to making baseless ASSUMPTIONS on people's motivations.

Whether he's a "decent bloke" or not, he has been thrust rather awkwardly - due in large part to his own self promotion and gum-flapping - into the sphere of awareness of at least the diehard boxing community (those of us who follow the sport enough to post on forums, anyway - I really doubt any casual fan in the US is even remotely aware he exists and am pretty confident that nobody who isn't registered on this or some other boxing forum would even recognize his name).

Based on the Dominguez win - not even that impressive a result, honestly - he is suddenly matched with the washed-up RJJ. So, the first thing on a lot of people's minds - Jones fans or not - was "OK, where the **** did this come from? Who has this guy beaten lately to get a big payday like that against a future HOFer?". The answer is nobody. He'd beaten nobody lately. So, the expectation was high for him to prove that he was somebody. OK, so the fight comes and he scores a knockdown (some would argue it was a rabbit punch, but eh, for the sake of argument we'll call it a legitimate first round knockdown). Then he peppers Jones with a zillion blocked shots all unanswered, keeping Jones in a defensive shell and not throwing back...but not landing much. Then we get a weak stoppage, weird and kind of anti-climactic. OK, so non-Aussie fans are left kind of thinking ":huh Well...OK..." The jury's still out on this guy. Maybe he's legitimate world class and deserved a big payday against RJJ, and maybe not. Let's see what he does next. Manny Siaca? :blood Uh. OK. So he knocks out Siaca, for whatever that's worth. Great. Now, surely, he'll step it up? Briggs? Didn't he retire ages ago? Doesn't he have health problems? What the hell is the point of this? Then the Briggs farce happens. However much blame you want to assign to Briggs for taking the obvious dive or Green for having even brought him in the ring in the first place - it was a sham all-around and the oft-abused Aussie PPV customers got kicked in the face harder than they've ever been by even Mundine himself. By now people both in and outside of Australia were rightfully growing fed up with the Green circus. Then came hyping up two-hit-wonder Flores as some kind of uncrowned cruiserweight champion. Flores turns in an awful performance in a still-competitive loss, and Danny has now delivered on the promise of being a world class boxer because he beat someone halfway decent with a 24-0-1 record (22-0-1 of which was quite padded)?

The point is, nobody outside of Australia ought to have heard of him. None of his fights have been televised in the USA. Rare nutjobs like me watch as much boxing as possible from all over the world, including Australia (often staying up very late or waking up very early to watch on a tiny computer screen). Most American boxing fans - casual or diehard - simply haven't had any exposure to the guy. Even the diehards have seen maybe the Jones highlights on Youtube or the 1 or 2 times they got replayed on ESPN. They've maybe heard about the Briggs dive by word of mouth or on a forum and seen it on Youtube. That's IT. He is simply not a known quantity over here, because he hasn't done anything to become one. Most American boxing fans would be oblivious to him entirely had he not somehow, undeservedly, landed a fight with RJJ. He's a continental-level fighter, like Mirovic or Kickett. Since the Jones fight was signed, his name has been frequently and inexplicably popping up on boxing forums (not just the Aussie subforums) due in equal parts to his fans hyping him up and his own statements calling out the best in the world - and people are sick of hearing it if he isn't ever going to face a legitimate world-class fighter who isn't shot to ****. None of his last five opponents fit that bill. Not one. So why the **** does he keep calling out internationally big names like Tarver and Hopkins? How the hell has he earned those paydays? He simply is not world-class and has no business passing himself off as such.

He lost to Mundine, FFS. Name one truly world-class fighter (other than Geale, controversially) who's lost to Mundine.

He also is not a true Cruiserweight and has no business passing himself off as such. Dannyweight is nonsense. **** or get off the pot - pick LHW or CW and ****ing stick with it.

The dislike of Green is pretty understandable since he took a page out of the Mundine guide to matchmaking, he is still reasonably capapable, yet he wastes his time with catchweight bull**** and mugs like Siaca and old man Tarver and he parades around like a world champion.

Hopkins would probably beat him as he would be stylistic cryptonite to Green so i wouldn't criticise him for targetting that big money fight, i just take issue with the predictable anti-yank card that every second clown plays on here. Its good for a few laughs tongue in cheek, but you only look like a wanker playing it simply because someone has a different opinion to you on a polarising figure like Green.

green recently admitted that hes stuck in a limbo of sorts when it comes to weight, he can no longer make 175 so lhw is out of the question, yet he is an extremely small cruiser, therefore he sets stipulations, whats wrong with that? manny does this all the time, bj flores came in at 195 pounds so this dannyweight is nonsense, and tarver will come in at the cruiser limit also. He is much more of a known entity that mirovic or kickett, hes ranked 6 by ring magazine as a cruiser weight which i think is a moderately strong division, no he hasnt fought the best since his comeback but he will always give anybody a tough fight and he offers up a lot of money for big name fights in australia, that is why he is generally well liked, because he bought rjj over and toured the country with him, giving boxing fans the chance to meet a legend, and is doing the same with tarver, he gives our country great exposure to the sport. I personally dont see b hop making more money from any other fight, purely because green has so much money to throw behind these challenges, but as IB says, he does have to get past tarver, which in my opinion is a decent fight for the 38 year old green.

Green is not respected in Australia at all, there are a few loyal nuthuggers that love him. However most people realise he is a less talented version of mundine.
He is a very handy local fighter but doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as fighters like BHOP

    No.

Just because I don't bother watching them, doesn't mean I don't know who the fighters are. Hell, the reason I don't bother watching them is because I know exactly what they are.

    Logic failed.

As above. I haven't had to watch the fights to know about them. So the underpinning assumption is flawed.

Here is the seething rage I was talking about.

    Thanks for that.

You don't have to know about something firsthand to be qualified to speak on it. Fascinating!

How exactly was that seething rage? Did you even read it?

No. Of course you didn't. Hence the short cute reply.

You've lost this and every round. You are an idiot. Goodbye. :hi:
