AMERICAN promoter Gary Shaw has labelled Danny Green "no chance" of rematching Antonio Tarver in America - let alone before the year is out.
"Won't happen, no," Shaw told The Daily Telegraph yesterday. "Danny Green won't fight Antonio Tarver because Danny Green doesn't wanna fight Antonio Tarver. It's exactly why he's started talking up a fight in the States."

Currently in Tasmania to oversee the final preparations of Australian IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale, Shaw also manages the affairs of new IBO cruiserweight champion Tarver - who stopped Green after nine rounds at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in July.

Only last week, Green held a press conference in Perth to announce that, despite the continuing retirement rumours, he wanted to take up his rematch clause with Tarver - with hopes it would be in the American's backyard.

When asked about the clause agreed to (and publicly confirmed) by both fighters, Green politely declined to comment, saying "I've never discussed contract details and I'm not about to start now".

Yet Shaw yesterday insisted the fine print specified that, should Green lose his IBO belt to Tarver, the rematch would have to be held at the same Sydney venue as their first fight.

"That was the detail should there be a rematch, that everything was the same,'' Shaw said.
"So the best way Danny Green can assure that doesn't happen is to say he now wants to fight in the United States.

"Danny Green couldn't beat Antonio Tarver at home. How's he going to beat him in America?"

While there is no love lost between the Green and Tarver camps, it should be noted the future Hall of Famer told reporters the night he beat Green that he'd happily rematch the Australian. He also suggested American TV giants Showtime, for whom he works as a commentator, had already offered to broadcast the event live.

Some Aussie boxing insiders believe an American rematch would actually be more favourable for Green, who would make money from the fight even if he accepted only Australian pay-per-views as part of a new deal. It's also understood the cruiserweight is keen to avoid the pressure of promoting such a huge event the second time around.

Close friends say Green was under considerable strain before the Sydney bout, having shelled out a whopping $1.5 million to bring the Ring magazine light heavyweight of the decade Down Under. Despite showcasing the best Australian boxing card since that knockout of Roy Jones Jnr, the Tarver fight failed to sell out the Entertainment Centre

We all know there's never going to be a rematch in the states............ Tarver wants $1.5mil or possibly $2m now he's the champ. He won't get that in the states.

Green doesn't want another beating but is trying to save face by saying he will fight a rematch......... I guess the Aussie surfer dude hanging ten from Perth gotta hold his head up walking around the streets of Boganville :hey

Woldarczyk for the WBC would be a cheaper option. He's still keen.

to much of a live opponent for Dannyboy! :good he is a cat that just wants to fight has been's. Anyone with a CW belt Danny will steer clear of. Im not sure WTF they are going to do now at CW.

They will not rematch Tarver anytime in the next 5 yrs. Tarver not as shot as they thought so they will never rematch him imho.

IBF Champ, Cunningham would chop DannyBoy into bits and peices, wouldnt even look competitive, it would be a one sided beating and Danny would be lucky to escape with his marbles intact.

WBC Champ, Woldarczyk is to much of a live opponent and at the peak of his Game, similar to Cunningham Woldarcrk would cut danny to shreds.

Dannys never been keen on a real world title since he come out of retirment with promises never to return even for money :rofl, he had offers of shots at WBC, IBF title when he held the IBO title and he knocked them all back opting to fight has been opponents to inflate his ego and to contuine pulling the wool over the publics eyes.

He is pretty much farked now, all he will fight is bullsht fights, no title is there for him to be given to him as the IBO one was with Austin handing him a free title so they could make a packet on the RJJ fight.

yeah he was helping him to try and get the Hopkins fight then tried to get Dawson a shot at him. Still he got Geale some impartial judges in Germany.

did green say he will only fight if its in usa, and that under no circumstances would he fight in sydney vs tarver again?

didn't tarver say the rematch in perth is fine with him?

but then if the rematch in sydney only is in the contract, then that don't add up does it?

I'm sure no one in Danny's camp wants to see him take another humiliating beating. A few sensible words in his ear are required from those who love him.
