Fighting for money means you are just another pointless boxer a true warrior fights for pride and glory and that does not make them the best boxers in the world but when you say the names....Ali, Robinson, Dempsey, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns they fought more for pride and respect then $$$$
They are professional boxers, it's there job. They all fight for the money. Do you go to work every day just for the pride, glory & respect. At the end of the day any pro boxer has still gotta provide for their family. A pro boxers career is usually a short one so they must "make hay while the sun is shining"
Think you will find the money more than comes into it! Ask Duran when he started off from a Panamanian street kid whether or not he wanted the glory or to fill his stomach (that bit he's done very well), ask Hearns following the second fight if he would fight Leonard for $50,000 and see what answer you would have gotten
mate as a boxing fan i can see i can see where you're coming from but put yourself in his position.hes a good fighter but not elite.IMO he did not retire because of a dream after Drews its because he could not beat the top LHW's.he tried to get Hopkins big money fight but was unsuccessful so its back to Mundine. people like Kats,LZ,Vic,have to fight OS and take risks and risk losses because they have too because they havent got the Green/Mundine rivalry thing which the general public eats up here in Australia.in fact the general public would not know who they are.sad but true.Green and Mundines kids will not have to work part time jobs to pay for Uni fees if they go to University.
A fighter who does not take risks is a coward....simple as that....Mundine is a coward and Green is heading that same way if he does not take his chance now to make a man for himself....He wanted Bhop, Tarver and got neither so go after them ON THEIR HOME GROUND!
how is mundine a coward but green only heading that way? Mundine has fought (and lost to) the better opposition and he certainly did it earlier in his career
