Danny Green to retire after the Devil's TKO

i get the feeling even TC admired green after that fight. he isnt quite as big a dead**** as i thought he'd be about greens loss.

could be also because he's shown himself to be such a **** about shannon taylor and green of late, he's decided to pull his head in.

anyway. well done danny green. you stepped up to the plate against a real world class fighter, and didnt know what the outcome might be. you lost no respect from losing. well done mate.

pity mundine wouldnt take the same brave risks. when in years to come, peoplelook back at the records of both fighters, green will be the standout, despite mundine having a win over green. green will be remembered as the fighter that fought the better opponents, all through his career.

 

@ Sally, I felt a bit for greeny after that, and I would be happy to see him maybe have a few "gatekeeper" type fights, like cameron etc.
However I do not agree he has fought better opponents at all.
I do not think he has fought anyone near the quality or prime kessler, nor probably even ottke or echols.
Fighting 40 year old faded versions does not beat fighting prime kessler, Ottke or Echols IMO.
Mundine also gave a lot of decent aussie fighters a crack which was good for them, and i believe for aussie boxing (whilst maybe not being good for his career).
It is what it is, but IMO no chance does Greens career outshine Mundines, and IF mundine manages to beat Trout, and become the pioneer, then I think it is clear, Mundine is streets above Green in terms of legacy.
