Santiago is a bigger bum. I read the same reports (couldn't watch it) and several independent reports on Twitter from individuals at ringside painted more or less the same picture. Dull fight, Santiago coming forward and trying but failing to be effective. Green fairly easily jabbing him and then breaking him down by the mid-rounds, stunning him with increasing frequency before dropping him a couple of times and ultimately bringing on the stoppage. Santiago sounds like he was completely useless, but I'd ascribe that to the fact that he's been useless for years and is essentially a ball of rusted tin plucked from the scrap heap to give Green a bow-out W rather than him "staging" a non-effort as part of an orchestrated fix. (although Green does have fishy history with Briggs..)
Apologies to anyone who lost out on this based on me making this thread... I didn't suggest anyone to go for it, it was just an idea I was throwing out there and looking for opinions.... I didn't go for it in the end and I think I said I wasn't going to earlier in the thread... here's to the next idea being more successfull, let's keep our eyes out :good
:good To be honest I don't rate Dwyer very highly at all.. same guy that said there was no way Haye klitschko would go to the cards and adamantly thinks Hopkins and 48 year old Holyfield would have a good chance to beat Wladimir! atsch
That quote was before I had watched his last few fights, heard other's opinions and seen the horrible shape Santiago showed up to the weigh in.. I was just throwing an idea out there and asking for opinions.. I actually predicted Green would win after thinking about it further..read the whole thread
Be that as it may, Danny Santiago in 2012 is not someone who would likely get licensed anywhere in his home country but for the dodgiest state athletic commission. (like maybe the one that allowed that doubleheader of Mesi post-brain-bleeding and Morrison post-HIV-positive-testing :-() Green - even the current version - thrashing the current Santiago is not only perfectly believable without there needing to have been corruption, it's the only outcome in this match-up that wouldn't come as an utter shock.
