Wlod not being great is what makes the excitement. Every title defense is huge and brings good fights. These fights he is having aren't boring when comparing Klit fights

I wish I had been able to see John-Merdov as it happened, but I'm very grateful to read the RBR now, and am happy that John apparently had a MUCH better hold on the fight than the three official scorecards showed. Not sure how credible an opponent Merdov was, but John had never planned to defend against him until the promotion fell through for a planned defense against Satoshi Hosono (BoxRec's #11 ranked featherweight), and most people think Hosono is a perfectly valid opponent for Celestino Caballero. Not sure who would be a likely next opponent for John, but I hope he considers the USA for that fight, or AT LEAST a weekend date, so I can actually watch it live!!! :good

    If it's another stay-in, I really wouldn't mind a rematch against Yordan.

The kid is right back on good form: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=363596

Despite already having a competitive but clear loss, IMO he's a worthier contender to John's throne than the likes of Dib, Hosono & Merdov...plus, it's a big domestic fight and probably the biggest gate John can draw. Maybe then he'd finally be satisfied enough with his amassed fortunes from his mostly low-risk backyard title stockades to consider striking out into the rest of the world - preferably the USA on a major TV provider - for the remainder of his subsequent defenses. OR, maybe the torch will be passed and we'll have a new reigning champion...one who's younger and maybe more pliant on the idea of frequent passport stamps. (not to mention the possibility of a trilogy! It could be southeast Asia's answer to Ward-Gatti, Morales-Barrera, and Vazquez-Marquez...and I'm only half kidding :yep)

I had never considered the possibility of a rematch with Yordan, but I agree it probably makes sense for both of them, for business, competitive, and nationalistic reasons. Plus, it also makes sense for all of us, especially if the undercard would again be comprised of that same Indonesian soap opera, whatever its name was!!! :good
