Mundine had his chance to stop Green, but true to Mundine form, he didnt push the buck, I thought he couldve stopped Green from round 8-9 onwards, he sure as hell embarrassed Green - but I dont think he tried hard enough to KO him.
I think Jones has enough left in the tank to beat Green but if ever it was time for Danny to shine its now!! either way i just hope for a good fight to make it worth the money i spent on tickets!!
:deal Agreed!! Although i probly woulda gone anyways seeing as how i always seem to want to attend the Mundine fights in Sydney (its prob got more to do with the fact that im Aboriginal and always seem to be relatedto someone who can get me free tickets though) and he doesn'treally bring anything worth watching a chance to see Roy in action (despite the being old stuff) is more then enough reason to go!!
I take Roy Jones by decision or Green by KO, 70 / 30 chance in favour of a Roy decision. Green has never been visibly in trouble as far as getting ko'd, has great power and decent skills. He was severely weight drained vs Mundine also.
mismatch. another belt for roy jones. after this he will be dubbed as a champion of all divisions from 160 and above. typical for him. who cares about jones toying with green ? bitches ?
"As for that muppet who claims Mundine nearly stopped Green - pull your head in, Green's never been stopped in his life and the closest he ever looked to stopping was when he suffered extreme heat exhaustion against Sean Sullivan in Perth." i said he was nearly stopped, which he ****ing was a few times in those last few rounds, he was taking a hammering, what fight were you watching?
he wasnt knocked down, didnt look like he was going down... towards those later rounds he was getting peppered and he was giving nothing back. the ref was keeping a real close eye on him put it that way... lets just say he was getting his "arse whooped" in a big way. thats better. ****. a few times in those later rounds i was saying wow green has nothing left, didnt you?
He was never close to be stopped and the fight was more even than some (this 'Humbug' dude) think. After the fight both fighters lifted their arms and in the pub I was in (about 200 people in Melbourne) 80% believed Green had won. Only after the fact has people acknowledged that Mundine won the fight. I think he did,. but it was not the way some people try to paint it.
yeah but every aussie hates mundine, i cant say im much of a fan either. i'll take it back, he wasn't nearly stopped, just really really dominated, and towards those later rounds, even more so. what fight were you ****ing watching? surely i wasnt that drunk
:think Green isn't getting the props he deserves on this thread. He was a badass at SMW for a long time... In fact before he nearly killed himself from dehydration he was a worthy opponent for any champion. He was putting a world class beating on Marcus Beyer before he pulled a Fenech (The "unintentional" headbutt), he also blasted Eric Lucas out in 6 rounds. He's more comfortable these days as a Cruiser, the guy's a good fighter.
