Thats the problem m8, it was 17 years ago :rofl.. he may as well fight Siaca again or similar.

He was TKO by Michael Moorer in 2004 during the 9th round , and Tua stopped Moorer in 1 round, 2 years prior. This matchup doesnt fool me thats for sure

    17 years ago was it?

Have another go at the maths m8!

You conclude a guy who you know nothing about, is way past his prime and bracket him with Siacca, because Moorer was KO'ed by Tua in 2004! ....... Huh?

Jirov was a very good fighter in the late 90's early 2000's..He had Michael moorer beat until Moorer landed the hail mary combo on the bloke really late in the bout..I remember watching it on espn friday night fights.Moorer was on another of his comebacks.lol..

I dont know what to think of the bout..If jirov is 50-60percent the fighter he was when he fought in his prime then i guess he still shits over Siaca and Briggsy.

...finally some real perspective, and from someone who's actually seen the guy fight.

Jirov got knocked down in the 1st round of his last fight & came back to win against a pretty much bum.
    Not good form at all.

Ai mentioned above Jirov had moorer beat going into the 9th..Just ran out of puff and copped a few goodones off a heavyweight puncher..

And whats Tua ko'ing Moorer in one round got to do with anything..He also done the same to John Ruiz who went on to beat Evander Holyfield for godsake..

...that kind of info I'll take on board Kegsy. But some of this other blindfolded guesswork is a joke.

Typical rugged euro fighter..Doesnt show much emotion either.Real cold looking bugger..

He doesnt have the body of a adonis but the ***** could just stay in the phone booth and bang for 10-12 rounds..

He aint going down like Siaca and Briggsy..He will probably lose to Greeny but i cant see a bloke like Virov staying down when he CAN GET UP.

Sounds like Jirov wants Green or Roy Jones Jnr:

    Jirov wants Danny Green

    from Boxing News 24 (19th August 2010)

Former International Boxing Federation cruiserweight champion Vassiliy Jirov (38-3-1, 32 Kos) has dropped back down to cruiser from the heavyweight division and is actively seeking a “name” opponent.

A fearsome body puncher seemingly incapable of taking a backward step, Jirov, 36, earned his reputation as a crowd favourite the hard way, by never being in a bad fight. Among others, Jirov was in the Fight of the Year against James Toney and retired then #1 heavyweight contender Joe Mesi.

Manager Ivaylo Gotzev says he has several lines in the water for Jirov. “I made contact with (top-rated cruiserweight)

people, thinking that after the Paul Briggs debacle, he’d want a better challenge. Hopefully Danny Green, the mighty warrior from Down Under won’t disappoint his fans in Australia.”

Plan B, according to Gotzev, is fighting on the same show as Roy Jones Jr. and then two facing each other after that in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Hopefully we can bring this to reality.”

Whoever Jirov ends up facing, Gotzev says he’s sure the fans will be the ultimate winners. “The plan is to mix it up with a big-name fighter and make some exciting fights. No matter who Vassiliy fights, rest assured, his style is do or die and he will not disappoint. He’s a proven warrior ready to return to battle. ‘The Tiger’ is back on the Hunt.”

I stand corrected. 7 years ago not 17.
I had a look at footage of Jirov in his prime then watched a more recent fight and the guy just isnt the same fighter who fought Toney imho.

jirov was a very good fighter and one i always enjoyed watching, but i think it might off be a few years back i watched a sparring of him and bj flores, and the punch didnt look massive and it stunned jirov and had him on ***** street in sparring, and his last comeback fight although he got the ko, getting dropped in round one wouldnt do him any good against green who is still very dangerous even if he is not in his peak, i just dont want to see this billed as a superfight of some sort when its clearly not.
