Danny Hornsby: UCC 3 'Night Breed' Will Be 'Another Action Packed' Offering

The UCC promoter talks to BritMMA.co.uk about tomorrow night's show at the Syndicate in Blackpool, as well as how he sees the promotion progressing in the future. Here are a couple of tasters:

Indeed, this will be the first MMA show to take place in Blackpool, and Danny explained the thinking behind going into this area.

"For a start, no one's ever done it in Blackpool before; like Manchester," stated Hornsby. "I think it's a great area, because you can go and watch the fights, get a cheap hotel there and it's a party town. Everyone know's where Blackpool is and it's great.

"My partner up there Spencer has done the boxing for years, and I said to him that we might as well give it a crack. He was a bit worried about there not being enough gyms around there, but what we'll do is even if we don't get the numbers we want the first time, the next time we put one on there we will, because we'll put on the same sort of show we do in Manchester with high quality, and we won't struggle.

"A lot of the fighters want to fight at this kind of venue too. They don't want to be in small churches or sports halls; they'd rather be in a nightclub where it's booming and the music system's already in place. The Syndicate's got it all, and everyone will want to be on the next one. It's got the same feel to it as the Ritz in Manchester. It's massive, with three floors, and is just a top venue. There's loads of options for going out as well after the show.

"We want to get a little circuit going with Manchester, Blackpool and Leeds, and eventually we'd like all the local guys to fight each other. Eventually, we want someone to go on as well, and hopefully someone from my show will end up making it."

Hornsby sees the UCC as becoming a solid rival to competitors, and thinks that soon enough, the company will be widely considered as one of the finest in the UK.

"To be fair, I don't think BAMMA have done too badly. I can't really say anything bad about them, because a lot of their fights seem fair, and they've got that TV deal.

"I think Knuckle Up is just a total, total '****le Up' though. I don't think you can even put my show in that category. They don't seem to know what they're on about. They want to stick to singing. Dane Bowers has come out and met Alex Reid, put a show on and thought it was a great idea and wasted all the money in his bank account.

"I don't think you can put my show in that bracket. Don't get me wrong, more MMA shows are good for the sport, but they're ****ing it up because they're not doing it right. Everyone could turn round and say how great it could be, but they're not going to be here now so really they're not that great are they? Everyone will have forgotten about them in twelve months. I want to be here in five years time.

"Ultimate Challenge put a good show on, as do BAMMA, and they've both got TV, but with the small shows, I don't think they'll be anyone touching the UCC soon."
