It's true, but it fits his agenda to say that. Because he also said that he beat Golovkin in their fight.

So according to him Jacobs > Golovkin > Alvarez.

I have watched that second GGG vs Canelo fight atleast 3 times and im going to rewatch it again soon because of this thread

Each tiume i have watched it i have scored it very clearly for Canelo

He landed far far better shots to both the body and head, he defended far better, he had GGG backing up the entire fight, after GGG saying mexican style stand and fight the entire build up. It was a clear victory imo

Floyd talked about knocking guys out only to potshots all day. **** boxers say in the build-up isn't part of scoring a fight. The whole "GGG lost because he said mexican style but backed up" is a garbage argument.

    No it is not

GGG whole style embodies Mexican style and everyone who watched boxing and his trainers etc knew the best chance to win was to get into Mexican style fight and trade it out

    Guess what

Canelo stood directly infront of him and went Mexican style, GGG couldn't handle it and had to change his favourite style because of it. He started backing up he backed up for a reason and it wasnt because he was winning the fight

I think it would be equally serving to Jacobs had he said he thinks Canelo won.

If he hypes that Canelo beat Golovkin... he then hypes his current matchup (that he's trying to sell) a future win over a guy that beat G and who would be considered the current head of the division, and who he (Jacobs) has an opportunity (and Id say likely) to perform better against than he did against Golovkin. (Allowing him to say 'ya my fight with g was close but I improved and went on to beat the guy that beat him in convincing fashion)

So I think even had he said Canelo... people could say it fits an agenda.

But you don't score fights based on who said and claimed what before the fight. Expectations are not part of the scoring system. You can claim Canelo gained moral victory because of all the mexican style talk from GGG camp. Canelo camp claimed they are going to knock GGG out in the first fight and in the second, but they didn't. Does that mean he lost both fights? Fights are scored based on what is going on in the ring, period.

A pity that Jacobs couldn't get a rematch with Pirog!! I will root for him against Canelo.I like his style and his personality.Very likeable boxer who defeated cancer and has reached the top after a devastating ko loss

So using your logic Floyd Mayweather should only use the style he is known for to win a boxing match, otherwise he automatically loses. "Floyd claimed he would outsmart his opponent in the ring but brawled the whole fight"

He didn’t say that. He said Canelo won because he landed better punches, defended better and pushed GGG back (ring generalship). Which is absolutely true.

I had it 115-113 for GGG both times. What we don't count jabs anymore??? GGG won the championship rounds too...

Even worse, he's what? 38?! LOL

Just because GGG said one thing and did another you have Canelo winning?
GGG fought with 2 different styles and both times outlanded him.
