He's shown time and time again that he's a legit fighter, despite losing a close fight to GGG. I still think he beats everyone at MW not named GGG. The more I watch Danny Jacobs fight the more I appreciate his style. He has that old school style that reminds me sort of like Sugar Ray Robinson in a way. Who does Danny Jacobs remind you of style wise?
It's not his style necessarily but his attributes and potential flaws, he reminds me of Jermain Taylor. I love Jermain, he fought anybody and gave his best, but I see a lot of him in Jacobs. I will say Danny isn't quite as tight and twitchy as Jermain but they both can be gassed, aren't as responsible defensively as they could be, and you never really feel comfortable if you are a fan of theirs. I think Danny is better defensively than JT, but I think JT has a better jab. I think Danny is a better inside fighter but I think Jermin is a little better outside. Like I said they aren't carbon copies or anything, it just reminds me of him in a lot of ways.
Seems to fight down to the level of opposition, just a shame when someone gets dropped they pick up that glass chin reputation and I’m not sure in his case it’s warranted.
He is fearless in the ring and its giving him a lot of success, he doesn't care if he gets knocked out because he almost died from cancer.
Danny DID used to fight down to opponents skill level but that was like forever ago. I think after the Kid Chocolate fight. He became a Vet. Danny in NO WAY looks like Taylor. Jermain was good, but not this good. I also think Jacobs/GGG 2 would be a complete different fight if it was to happen now.
He barely beat his last two opponents. And looked rather meh vs Arias. There is nothing to indicate that he has improved that drastically.
Sulecki is a tough fight for anyone. You must have watched another fight cuz he whipped Aria's ass. Danny was hell of dominant.
I agree about not feeling comfortable with their defense. Against Sergey, there was a bunch of exchanges where I felt like Jacobs had more of a chance to fall, rather than Sergey, even though he had already been dropped in the first.
Agreed, Actually I was going to ask the question did Jacobs look a little weak in this fight? He didn't seem strong to me, I think making 160 is really taking it's toll. I'm astonished he's still fighting at this weight.
Thats how you are suppose to fight. Control your distance. Move side to side. Control the fight from outside the punch zone. Step in the punch zone when you want to punch. Then back outside.
Jacobs isnt the same fighter that fought Golovkin, he was better then. I think even this old faded Golovkin knocks out this lesser Jacobs.
