His career and life story was remarkable. Lots of boxing drama to his career. He grew up in one of the roughest parts of New York, but he never got into that lifestyle. Hes a regular blue collar hard working guy. HBO actually picked him to be their next house fighter, but when Pirog knocked him out during his 1st title shot HBO pulled the plug on him and left him out to dry. Ridiculous. A young fighter went up against a much more experienced fighter and lost. So what. Then he got cancer. He could have died and was out for years. Then he beats cancer and comes back and starts obliterating people. He gets another title shot against Golvokin who was on a long KO streak. Nobody gave him a chance. But he almost beat Golovkin. He finally won a world title by outclassing Derevyanchenko. Then immediately after he fought Canelo and ran him close. I've been a longtime fan of Jacobs. He is not a complainer. And he demonstrates what is possible with self determination.
Outclassing Derevyanchenko? That was a 7-5 either way fight. Or what about Sulecki another 7-5 either way fight. Or the flat performance against the bum Arias. Getting dropped by Sergio Mora the controversial win against Rosado or the loss to Ryder. Danny Jacobs is an average fighter that’s it that’s all. He fought a great fight against Golovkin who himself never looked the same afterwards and that’s it. He didn’t go for the win against Canelo he instead chose to play it safe to not get KO’d.
Daniel's life was so rough. Grew up in the worst areas on the planet but somehow got rich at a young age playing a sport. Got world class medical treatment for his cancer so didn't die. Lives in luxury with no genuine skills or abilities of any use in a civilisation. What an inspiration. How did he do it! Maybe an Egyptian can play him in the film.
Seems a good dude and his life story is pretty incredible. Cancer survivor to World Champion...theres been movies about less.
Good dude but as charismatic as a bowl of pudding. Maybe a TV Movie if the week or something but I’m not sitting through a movie of this guy. Maybe if he beat Canelo and GGG but coming close to big wins doesn’t count. We don’t give participation awards around here. No yet at least.
Love watching him fight and he's a cool dude to boot. I wish he fought more times in the UK (against British fighters) but wasn't to be....also don't think his accolades nearly merited what his his in ring talent/ability was worth. As far as a movie goes, I think we have all the ones we need for people to enjoy with Raging Bull, The Fighter, Cinderella Man and other boxing movies which are based on fictional characters, Rambo, Creed, Southpaw etc so I don't think it'd make much sense making 1 about DJ.
I hope you are joking. Growing up in the "rough" part of Brooklyn means he had a more privileged upbringing than about 90% of people on Earth.
Yeah I agree. I'd like to see one of Edison Miranda. https://hannibalboxing.com/dream-to-make-believe-the-impossible-life-of-edison-miranda/
