Atlas said it best: each fight should be a little step up. They should make him face different kind of fighters (with different styles). He should get in some quality rounds.. Trying to create a nice undefeated record is important until the day you meet another young undefeated fighter with more experience under his belt. Usual **** different fighter.

Don't Hate....Because NONE of this is "TEAM JACOBS" fault!!! They tried like hell to secure a legitimate opponent for the May 1st Undercard. After beating three tough vets Mike Walker, George Walton and Ishe Smith, "Team Jacobs" tried to make fights with Andy Lee, Peter Manfredo, Sergio Mora, Giovanni Lorenzo (who's camp said he had the Chicken Pox) and John Duddy...but Duddy has chosen to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

So this is NOT Jacobs fault!!!!

Jacobs - Lee would be a great fight in a few years. Both have top amateur pedigrees and good styles. Too early for it now I reckon, hopefully in 2/3 years they'll both be at the top of the game.

Have you inside information? Did Lee refuse a fight with Jacobs?

All I can tell you is that Jacobs "REACHED OUT" to Andy Lee. This I know for sure. Now, it was early April, and maybe Lee just couldn't get ready for a May 1st fight. Duddy chose to fight Chavez Jr. (smart choice, IMO). Manfredo didn't want to back out his May 22nd date. Mora just fought in Early April and said "NOT POSSIBLE".

Astroga is a step down from the guys Jacobs has been fighting. Some of the guys he was starting to face were solid gatekeepers, the type of guys Jacobs should be fighting. Astroga, seems to be a step back from that. But, he is fighting 5-6 weeks after his last fight and its a non-televised fight.

The good thing is that he's staying active after being off for 7 months, which was the longest he'd been off. Astroga is a fight where Jacobs simply gets some work in and I'd think he would step the competition up again in his next fight. At this point in his career a fight like this won't hurt Jacobs unless he makes a habit of it but I don't see that being the case.

That's awful. I was there for Duddy-Astorga, and Astorga didn't even show up. Duddy knocked him down with the first body shot he threw, and knocked him out with the second.

well lets see, jacobs is still a developing fighter who still has ways to go before he can even think of a title shot. he's still in the prospect stages, learn the politics of boxing before you make ******ed comments like this.

I don't understand this choice. Jacobs beat Micheal Walker. David Lopez is ranked in the Ring top 10, and he is the guy who took Walker's zero away. Lopez is a getting a bit long in the tooth and no doubt past his best. That would seem like a logical fight. Even old worn out guys like Ornelas, McKart, or Soliman would be better choices.

answer me this oh un-wise one, what will he learn by getting his ass kicked by a top ten middlewight?? do you NOT understand how prospects work? do you understand that jacobs is still in the developing stages of his career? man, you clowns on ESB are so quick to call someone a cherry picker.
