I have never been able to find Danny "Kid" Webster, a Los Angeles bantamweight/featherweight of the 1900s and 1910s born in Canterbury, England, in any U.S. Census or death records, which made me think that his real last name wasn't Webster. As a result, I decided to enter his listed birth date (December 31, 1885) and one of his listed names to find a man who was born on the same date in England and lived in Los Angeles, California starting in the first decade of the 20th Century. I found that one Danniel/Daniel Brice who was born in England about 1887 and lived in Los Angeles during 1900, 1920, 1930 and 1940. According to the U.S., World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942 database on the Ancestry.com website, one Daniel Brice was born in Kent, England on December 31, 1886 and living in Los Angeles at the time he registered. He was 5' 3" tall and weighed 150 pounds. In addition, he had "two cauliflower ears." According to the California Death Index (1940-1997) database on the Ancestry.com website, one Daniel Brice was born on December 31, 1886 (no listed birthplace) and died in March 27, 1965 in Los Angeles County. - Chuck Johnston
In the 1910 U.S. Census records, I found a 27-year-old "pugilist" named Dan Brice who was living with his wife, Lila, and two step-daughters in Los Angeles, California. - Chuck Johnston
