Former feathweight champion (1976-1980) Danny Lopez just made the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Danny is #2 on my all time favorites list. Pound for pound he was one of the hardest punchers I have ever seen. His fundamentals were some what lacking and his hand speed was mediocre, but he had enough skill to set up the right hand in ways that were straight up evil. He could hit a guy with what looked like a nothing punch, and the guy would go down and stay down for 2 or 3 minutes. When Danny retired the now defunct Boxing Today Magazine did a big article on his career. The title was; Danny "Little Red" Lopez, knock him down, he'll get up and kill ya. That title in and of itself makes an excellent summary of Little Red's career. 39 of Danny's 42 wins came by way of KO. Due to some bad officiating he knocked one opponent out TWICE in the same fight. Danny is in and I am a HAPPY MAN!
Hell ya he was exciting! Nothing like watching an opponent light Danny's ass up, and then watching Danny get up and obliterate the poor *******:yep
no doubt mate what a fighter and what a guy. One of these days i was rewatching some of his fights and ive noticed that he never ducked any punch its like he enjoyed being hit.
That was part of his thing. Test the other man's power, and see what he's got. People have often said Danny was dangerous when hurt. I'll maintain the opposite. He was dangerous because the other guy unloaded and he WAS NOT hurt.
You love Danny Little Red Lopez like your related to him. do you know him personally? yea! he was exciting & good! :good
Hey, Boo, you said Danny is your #2 fav of all time. Who is your number one? My fav all time is Sugar Ray Robinson and my #2 is Big George Foreman. My favorite of today is between Pavlik or Mosely, though there's worlds of difference between the two.
