I'm not related to him, nor do I know him personally. Lopez was active during one of the great eras of boxing. Haglar, Hearns, Ali, SRL, Duran, Spinks, and many other greats were at the top during the same era as Danny was. For a long time it seemed like he was destined to be the champion history forgot. Considering that it took no less a figher than Salvador Sanchez to knock Lopez out of position, that just would not be fair. Now he has finally received one of the highest honors a fighter can receive, and that tells me that every now and then boxing works like it should.
Just to let you know, I was on 2 committees, the modern and oldtimers, and I am proud to say that I picked all 6, 3 in each category, that were elected. On both Committees we were asked to pick as many as 10, BUT only 3 would be picked. Also, Larry Hazzard, who happens to be a very good friend of mine, was elected. Hazzard was rated as the top referee in the business before he became the New Jersey State Athletic Commissioner, where he stayed for 22 years. He now is one of the top people in the IBF.
It's been long overdue . . . the Little RED deserves the accollades and distinction. :happy :happy :happy
whoa, come on show some respect to little red :tong. to be honest, i doubt curry will get in. all the talent in the world but after the honeyghan lose and his weigh troubles, he lost to every single elite fighter he took on
It's pretty hard to beleive that Curry ended his career with a loss to Emmett Linton. Curry is an example of the fact that there is more to boxing than technical skill.
Dont know why,yes he beat Mancini but he was a class act to Boom Boom after the fight, its impossible to dislike a guy like Alexis.
