Ray did himself proud in that fight. Arguello was suppose to blow him out in 1 or 2 rounds. After the 1st round Alexis went back to his corner and said something like, "Guys, this is no easy KO, I have to be careful with this kid." At the end of 12 it still looked like anybody's fight, and I personally was in a state of shock. After that Alexis, who generally owned the championship rounds, took over. However, the fact remains that a 20 year old kid with 20 fights gave one of the greatest pugilists who ever walked the earth one hell of a fight.
There was nothing like sitting down to watch a Danny Lopez fight. You knew before the first bell it would be entertaining. He was one of those fighter that got better after getting knocked down. I can't tell you how many times guy's thought they had him only to get knocked out themselves.
Here's a no shitter for ya; this is an actual statisitic not hyperbole. Danny was knocked down somewhere in the first 3 rounds at least ten times! That was as of the Malvarez fight, and he got knocked down in the 1st round in that one, so actually it's at least 11 timesatsch
Awesome! I'm happy for you and Lopez both! lol Still never seen any of his fights though, can you believe that ****!?

Little Red Lopez is a warrior, my uncles favorite fighter, his fight with Olivares was one of the most grueling, heart stopping fight ive ever seen
i heard the poor guy is a construction worker now, so i'm glad that he getting into the hof. i live in sf bay area ( oakland), and one time i went to costco in daly city, ca, i ran into luisito espinosa. the guys a stock boy at costco. it's a shame what happens to most of these fighters.
Danny works consrtuction, but I saw his home on a documentary, and trust me, this cat ain't struggling to get by:nono
I love that fight. It was so typical of a Lopez fight! Right after Danny got up from the knock down check out the way he looks at his own right hand. It's like he's askin', "Ya ready bro!"
