Do you think Little Red could dent Azumah's mandible and dissuade his persistent pressure? Is the Professor's science too much for Danny or does his aggression, controlled as it is, open up holes to be exploited.

    15 rounds.

Lopez was arguably the most devastating feather ever, but Nelson has literally every advantage over him except for power, and Nelson was no slouch as a puncher himself.

    Nelson KO 11.

I swear you've done this one before.

My answer is the same, Professor winning late or on points. If Little Red hits him right though he could potentially come behind and pull it out the bag.

Awesome fight, but I prefer the guy who's quicker and technically better. He'd land more, first and get hit less.

Nelson by TKO somewhat along the lines of how Chacon did it.

Azumah Nelson on the night of July 21 1982 was in Madison Square Garden facing one of the greatest fighters, the late great Salvador Sanchez, the WBC World Featherweight Champion. Nelson was a last minute replacement for no. 1 ranked Mario Miranda, of Colombia. Azumah came into the fight with 11 pro fights under his belt. Sanchez scored a stoppage in round 15 after a very competitive fight.Nelson is a pressure type fighter who can wear an opponent down with hard shots to the body. Danny Little Red Lopez lost his WBC Featherweight Title to Sanchez, by TKO 13, on Feb 2 1980, in Phoenix, Arizona. He repeated another victory over Lopez on June 21 1980, TKO 14, in Las Vegas Nevada. Danny is a slow stater that has tasted the canvas on various occasions, before getting up to win, but he has a big right hand that has knocked many out. I see Lopez drawing first blood early with a flash knockdown in round 2. Nelson gets up after taking the mandatory eight count. Azumah now aware of the right hand of Lopez, begins the quest of pursuing the thin torso of Danny's. Nelson fires and connects with several hard combos. Azumah ends the affair in round 14, after such a torrid pace, with Lopez unable to defend himself.

Lopez was a terrifically exciting Fighter. A big puncher with bags of heart but he was also a bit hit or be hit.
Nelson, despite being a come forward pressure Fighter, had an excellent defence and, at his best, never put his chin on offer.
I think the 2 mens' defensive capabilities is the difference here. I'm sure Lopez could put some hurt on Nelson but he would pay a high price for it and this would catch up with him in the later rounds. Late stoppages were a feature of Danny's career and I see this as another one.
    Nelson anytime after 12.

Agree with all the posters picking Nelson by latter stoppage. Nice to see him getting his due. ATG fighter.

Little Red was my idol so I hate to say it, but Nelson would beat him. Little Red took too many punches and Nelson could hit. It would add up and be over in 8, 9 rounds.
Unless Azumah makes a fatal mistake, like knocking Little Red down in the second. Then Lopez KO3.

Danny just didnt have the defense.
Nelson too crafty and hits Lopez hard too often.
Nelson TKO around 10 or so

Great, exciting bout. Danny hits Nelson with everything including his Indian headdress but Nelson takes everything and ko's Little Red late.

All I know for sure is Danny is going down early and he’s getting back up.

    Then the fight starts.

I see this as a back-and-forth affair. As good as Azumah is, he’s going to taste that Lopez power at some point, maybe goes down himself and bounces back up. After that he’s going to be more cautious — he was always cagey beyond his years — and Lopez is going to keep winging and I see him taking the play away and taking the lead going into the championship rounds.

Nelson is going to find his space and turn it into a mid-range fight in the later rounds. Even though he’s still wary, he holds his ground and starts finding the target with counters as the fight wears on. Little Red feels it slipping away and starts to let it all hang out and Nelson then hits home with a big right that wobbles Danny. Azumah doesn’t let him off the hook and finishes it via TKO with Lopez battered but still on his feet taking punishment along the ropes early in the 15th.
