Danny "little red" Lopez vs Eusebio Pedroza

Should have been more clear, I'm talking about raw power, not finishing skills or punch placement etc.

 

I rate his right hand as genuine one punch power.

 

Pedroza was a league above the thunderous hitting lopez ,in all but power ,imo.Lopez was there to be hit and Pedroza was a cynical pro who exploited every chink inyour armour he had no qualms about giving you bruised nuts or kidneys ,he was also pretty strong along the lines of a Saddler,every one talks about Sanchez,but imo,Pedroza would have given him all he wanted,and he would have stopped Lopez.

 

Unlike most big hitters, Lopez was a volume puncher of the highest order because Danny knew he had to work hard to set up the knockout blow. If he didn`t get it (which very rarely happened), he would at least be secure in the knowledge that he outpunched his opponent enough to win on points. To me Danny was like a termite relentlessly boring holes through his opponents defenses, and before long his opponents weakened foundations would crumble in a heap.

Now I readily admit that Pedroza was the better and more accomplished fighter, but I think Lopez brings him to hell and back and I do not think it is far fetched to say that Danny wouldn`t pull a Zamora on him and clean his clock in similar fashion.

Eusebio did have a fairly regular habit of taking rounds off here and there and let his opponent get back into the fight, before going all out the following round or two and then reverting back to coasting for another round.

Now against Danny he would not be able to take any rounds off and he would be fighting at a pace that he is not accustomed to against someone who would have been the hardest hitting opponent he had ever faced in his career in Lopez.

Eusebio had excellent stamina, but he never had the kind of workrate that Lopez did, and it is my feeling that Danny would hurt Pedroza several times and force him into retreat mode for most of the fight and outwork him over 15 to take a decision.

But the thing to remember here is that Danny was willing to walk through any amount of punishment to get the job done because he had unwavering faith in his ability to land his atomic right hand eventually and take his foe out. More often that not, that faith was justified, in fact it was justified 39 times in 42 career victory`s, and I honestly believe that Danny`s belief in his ability to land the big bomb would have proven right against Eusebio as well.

Good stuff RB, as always. I wouldn't be shocked to see Lopez land something big and end it perhaps even sooner, but my money is on the slicker, trickier guy here.



I would also like to add that Lopez had a really hot wife. Bonnie was smokin'. :smoke

 

I know I am in the minority here by picking Danny to beat the more accomplished and better overall fighter in Eusebio, but I just don`t see how Eusebio is gonna avoid getting caught by one of Danny`s bombs over 15 rounds even if he is the trickier/slicker fighter of the two.

If Rocky Lockridge could bull Pedroza around the ring for the better part of their two fights, I see Danny doing much the same but unlike Rocky he would have put his man away for keeps once he connected.

And I agree with you 100% on Bonnie, she was a very pretty girl, definately my kind of gal looks wise. But I always thought that Danny`s sister was pretty damn hot as well, you can see her sitting next to Bonnie during the Lopez-Ayala telecast, she was one sexy broad that one.

 

HAHA yes indeed - I noticed that in the Ayala bout as well.

I know what you mean about the cameramen in the Ayala fight; between rounds, they wouldn't pan off Bonnie, just stood right in front and above her. She was always fiddling with her tube top, thinking she might be showing something.

 

Pedroza wins by UD in 15, but Lopez would make his presence felt, maybe even through a knockdown.
