Danny "Swift" Garcia will continue to avoid the likes of Thurman, Brook & Porter.

It's clear as day that Danny Garcia has no intention of fighting the elites at welterweight right at this moment. Haymon will keep matching him with soft touches in hopes of keeping his record undefeated.

Look for Garcia to get in the ring with the likes of Berto, Ortiz, Algieri and Khan in the near future. His father/trainer Angel Garcia has already admitted in several interviews that it's all about the money for them. They have no interest in fighting the best available competition out there.

In this joke of an era in Boxing where ducking, diving, Peds and catchweights rule the sport Danny Garcia is one of the few Boxers I have very little if anything to complain about.

Mad? Nah, disappointed is more like it. I like Danny as a person but I can't defend him when it comes to the selection of his recent opponents.

He's waiting for two of them to go to war so he can fight the winner who might be kind of shot afterwards. Pretty smart imo.

Well... all those guys have fights "right at this moment".

this does remind me of how everyone on this forum talked until they were blue in the face about how Garcia wouldn't step in the same building as Matthysse (let alone the same ring) and then were proven wrong.

Honestly, give it a couple of months. The fact is Garcia is on that "elite fighter" schedule of two fights a year so it makes it harder to get other guys who are also on the "elite fighter" schedule into the ring. Basically both of their calendars have to line up and then a million other things have to fall into place -- like deals, and promoter cold wars, and networks having open slots.

Of course it's simpler to just say; lol ducking!

Yea, I was one of the ones who said he'd never get in with Matthyse.. He proved me wrong on that and even though I didn't like the way the fight ended with the eye s****e and all, I won't criticize his selection anymore.. He is exciting to watch because he always looks like he is gonna lose, but he does just enough to win somehow..

He deserves to be criticized when he takes a Rod Salka style fight -- at least in my opinion.

I don't think he controls the judges so when people get ****ed at him about a dodgy decision going his way it doesn't really make sense to me.

he's an overachiever, a sort of "jack of all trades, master of none" operator in a sport that has a lot of really talented athletes at the elite level.

Garcia gets stick because he's had a couple of lucky decisions and his dad is a loudmouth lowlife. Apart from the Salka fight you can't really criticise his resume at all.

I highly doubt he fights the winner anytime soon. Maybe in a year or two.

Agreed. Garcia is going to continue to pick and chose his opponents wisely.

You took what I said too literal.

And I'm glad they were proven wrong. I'm one of the few who rooted for Garcia against Matthysse.

Who are you? His lawyer?! Stop fishing for excuses. Garcia will fight at least 2 more times this year and I bet my bottom dollar that it won't be against Brook, Porter or Thurman. You can blame it on whatever you want but all of those fights are makable and they've all called him out. He's had enough tune ups at welterweight.

Really?! Let's take a quick look at his resume since he became a champion.

    2012

Morales - 36 yrs old, shot fighter, fighting in his 5th weight class at the time.

    Khan - Good win.

    2013

Judah - 36 yrs old, way past his prime, last significant win in 2010.

    Matthysse - Great win.

    2014

    Herrera - Garcia lost.

    Salka - LOL.

    2015

    Peterson - Decent win.

Malignaggi - 34 yrs old, way past his prime, never beat an elite fighter.

    2016

Guerrero - Past his prime, went life and death against Martinez, last significant win in 2012.

Sorry, I'm just not impressed with his resume at all.
