He sounded genuine after the Chisora fight in retiring, really hope this is it now. Some of the fights he's been in the last two years have just been an incredibly sad sight to see, the worst for me by far was seeing that 300lb waste of space bash him about in Prizefighter :-(

But he's given us far more than enough great and memorable nights and performances that people will forget the last couple years of his career eventually.

Domestic legend with one of the biggest hearts going, good luck to him and I hope he kind find something worthwhile to fill his time, sounds like he needs something in his life to focus on.

    skelton-williams III
    williams-botha
    williams - audley III

    i can see happening sadly.

amazing career, full of highs and lows and still got the love that he deserved. almost household name. beating mike tyson, his hearty but wanting beating by vitali, his dislocated right arm leading to one of thread greatest in fight comebacks of all time agaisnt potter, his great victory over bob the bear mirovic in brentford fountain leisure center, his fights with sprott and francis where pretty solid matches throughout, exposed audley of the lack of heart and determination all genuine fighters need. his non stop war with skelton...and his balooning "did he eatthe oxygen tanks" performance in the rematch and gets destoryed by audley in a rematch...seemingly shot and past all hope of further ambitions he drops 50 lbs and comes in against young unbeaten banger scott gammer....and stops him late rounds. and the controversy of his fights in europe.

    fan****ingtasticbubledizzling fighter.

trademark belly and long trunks and beard will be remembered for a while.

I really hope this is the end this time.

I think he would make a good pundit, I'm sure Sky would take him on to cover a few fights.

Fair play to big Dan, one of my favourite domestic fighters...what a frustrating guy...on hip day he looked world class...some days he looked like he didn't know what day it was....that interview explains a lot....honest to the end, all the best big fella

Good lad was Danny, should be very proud of how he did. Those who follow boxing know he wasn't near his best for a few years now. Good luck to him.

I was never convinced of the weigh in where he came in 50lbs lighter, he didn't look that much different. I have a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't what it seemed...

    :good

Couldn't agree more. I particularly like the comparions between Vitaly and Tyson, very interesting.

I can't think what is worse to be pounded repeatedly by Vitaly, but not get KO'd or to be put to sleep by a Tyson pile driver.

Probably neither, if I had a choice.
