    Darchinyan wants Mexicans, not Donaire

Vic Darchinyan is eyeing some more Mexican scalps as he contemplates a move up to bantamweight if old rival Nonito Donaire doesn't quickly agree to a rematch.
Darchinyan returned to Sydney on Wednesday morning after retaining his WBC and WBA super flyweight titles with a convincing unanimous 12 round points decision over Mexican Rodrigo Guerrero in California last weekend.
The 34-year-old fighter said he would make a decision in around two weeks about whether he would move up to bantamweight, the division in which he unsuccessfully challenged for a world title against Joseph Agbeko last July.
Darchinyan stressed the only fight that would keep him at super flyweight would be a rematch with Donaire, who took away his IBF and IBO flyweight titles in July 2007.
If Donaire isn't available, Darchinyan would like to fight the winner of the fourth fight between celebrated Mexican warriors Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez in May, which is being handled by his American promoter Gary Shaw.
``We challenged him (Donaire) we were waiting to see if he was going to come to my fight (against Guerrero) and jump into the ring and say 'yeah, I want to fight,' but nothing happened,'' Darchinyan said.
``Maybe one or two more weeks, we'll wait if there's no news, we're going to start challenging other champions.
``In my weight division, I don't have anything more to prove I've beaten everyone, I've already got all the titles I became the undisputed world champion.
``I want to move up and I want to fight champions that are bigger than me.
``I sparred with Vazquez a couple of years ago and he is fighting with Marquez and now after the fight I'm going to challenge the winner of the fight.''
Darchinyan has already vanquished at least half a dozen Mexican fighters including world title winners, Jorge Arce, Cristian Mijares and Victor Burgos.
Darchinyan's manager Elias Nassar said negotiations were continuing with the Donaire camp, but there were plenty of options for his fighter.
``Gary Shaw is promoting the Vazquez-Marquez fight as well, there's Yonnhy Perez, the IBF champion at bantamweight that Gary has, there's Hozumi Hasagawa the WBC champion, he is fighting (WBO world champion Fernando) Montiel,'' Nassar said.
``Vic is the money man over in the States,'' added Nassar, who said Darchinyan's fight against Guerrero on American cable TV network Showtime drew more viewers than the light welterweight world title clash between Devon Alexander and Juan Urango on rival channel HBO the same night.
Darchinyan was still marvelling at the resilience of Guerrero, who soaked up numerous hurtful punches.
``All the punches I gave to him, I knockout guys with even one single punch, he took maybe 30 or 40 big punches and he didn't go down,'' Darchinyan said.
Although the knuckles on his left hand still bore signs of damage from pounding on Guerrero's head, Darchinyan said he expected them to be fine when he returned to training in two to three weeks.
Nassar said newly crowned IBO lightweight world champion Lenny Zappavigna would be brought along slowly after his gruelling fight with Fernando Angulo, which was the main support bout to Darchinyan-Guerrero.
``We've just got to wait for his cuts to heal, he got quite a few head butts during the fight,'' Nassar said of Zappavigna.
``He's very young, he's got a lot to learn, he can improve a hell of a lot, so it's just being patient and moving him nice and slowly.''

Vic has been trying to get Donaire into a ring for a long time now. Interesting fight.
