I'm thinking this will be a very exciting fight, and one that is passing by almost without getting the attention it deserves. I think Darchiniyan is very much in this fight.
Thanks anyway. I think Mijares will win a fairly wide Ud. In terms of ability, Vic will be thoroughly outclassed and it won't help with him head hunting all fight, looking for the knockout. Mijares has already proved he has a great chin, so even if he does get caught a few times, he'll still be in the fight. Mijares UD.
Mijares by wide SD. I'll predict that one crackpot judge gives the fight to Darchinyan, even though Mijares wins 9 or 10 rounds.
Respected Boxing Writer Graham Houston is picking Darchinyan to pull off the upset. Here I have some quotes for those who don't want to look up the article. On Saturday, youre going to see a different Vic Darchinyan. I wont try to take him out with just one punch. Youre going to see a much smarter Vic on Saturday night. Vic Darchinyan "Mijares has the greater skill in the conventional sense, but he is a fighter who can get hit. He was heavily knocked down in his first bout with Katsushige Kawashima in Japan and he got nailed by quite a lot of left hands from Jose Navarro in their all-southpaw thriller (the fight where one judge incredibly had Mijares losing every round in surely the most aberrant assessment of a boxing match in ring history)." Graham "Despite the great respect I have for Mijares, I am going to go against the tide here and pick Darchinyan to pull off the upset. I think he will be able to land enough of his thumping left hands to slow down Mijares and then come on with a late charge to snatch a decision victory." Graham Here is the link for those interested in the whole article: http://www.fightwriter.com/?q=node/1929 I'm actually going to stick with Mijares since I think he has a great future a head of him and think he'll be able to adjust to whatever Darchinyan brings to the table. But an upset here wouldn't leave me shocked.
Can't see how Vic overcomes all that skill... Maybe he lands something big and gets the KO, but it's hard to envision.
