CEBU CITY -- Armenian-born Australian former world champion Vic Darchinyan reiterated for the nth time his prediction to knock Z Gorres out on their upcoming world-title eliminator fight this coming Saturday at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu city.

In an interview with PhilBoxing.com after his public workout yesterday afternoon at the ALA Gym in Banilad, the highly confident and cocky Darchinyan said "tell your readers that I promise to knock Gorres out and it's gonna happen 100% sure."

When asked what round he would knock Gorres out, Darchinyan said "I don't know what round but it's gonna be before the end of the 12th round. After the first or second round, I'll know what round I'll finish him."

Darchinyan has arrived in Cebu from Australia last Saturday evening and together with his team and his promoter Gary Shaw, is staying at the posh Waterfront Hotel in Lahug. Clearly impressed by the host country, Darchinyan said, "I like the Philippines and its people, the people in the hotel are very nice. I like the place. I intend to return here sometime after the fight, but ... I'm very sorry guys because I'm gonna whip your boy's ass."

Whether Darchinyan, who had tasted his first loss when he was knocked out spectaculary by Filipino-American Nonito Donaire, Jr. on July, 7, 2007, can actually deliver on his promise for a knockout win this Saturday is still a big question mark. "A loss changes a boxer's mentality and confidence," Darchinyan's promoter Gary Shaw earlier told PhilBoxing.com. "After a loss, a boxer's next big fight will practically determine his future. And his (Darchinyan's) fight with Gorres is such as a kind of fight."

Darchinyan (29-1-0, 23KOs), has held the IBF and IBO flyweight titles for 4 years before he was unceremoniously dethroned by the then unheralded Donaire. Widely known as being cocky to he point of being obnoxious, Darchinyan is now moving up in weight and won his first fight in the super flyweight division against Filipino journeyman Federico Catubay but in an unimpressive fashion on Oct. 20, 2007 in Sydney, Australia.

Meanwhile, Gorres (27-2-1, 15KOs) had completely dominated former world champion Eric Ortiz in his last fight on Aug. 11, 2007 in Sacramento, CA. after failing to wrest the WBO superfly crown from Fernando Montiel on Feb. 24, 2007 in Cebu City in what many believed a fight that Gorres had won.

Gorres vs Darchinayan dubbed as "Now or Never" will explode this Saturday at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City. The undercards start at 6 PM while the main event starts at 9 PM and will be televised by Solar Sports in the Philippines and Australia and will be streamed via the Internet the rest of the world.

These words came out from Darchinyan all the time he fights..nothing is wrong with self confidence ...but not to be over confidence as what happened to him in his fight to nonito...and he pay the price...Hope not to see him again in the canvass crawling..,from the compliments of AZ Gorrez.....

Darchinyan has very poor footwork and if Gorres can avoid getting caught by a bomb then he will make Darchinyan look silly

Cocky words for a guy who ate canvass from the flash, he was cocky then too. He never learned to be humble even after a humiliating loss. I sincerley hope my boy z finish his cocky ass for good. The best of luck for z, make him silly and don't be cocky too z. I hope he won't let his guard fown like he did in the montiel fight. GO Z, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SHINE AGAIN. :happy :happy :happy

i think vic can... im not quite sure though.. but gorres has a shaky chin, im rooting on gorres though.. his slickness will be the factor in this fight he must avoid those bombs that vic will throw on him.

You got to realise he is coming of a very demoralizing(spelling) loss inwhich his self confidence would of taken a massive beating.

Leading to the overconfidence inwhich is merely Vic telling himself (and trying to make himself) believe that he is still the raging bull and that no1 can handle his power.

He is actually a very humble bloke who unfortunetly hasnt gathered much attention in his adopted homeland(Australia) eventhough he was until the donaire bout a very highly respected world champ.

he poor bloke struggles to get 20people at his press conferences in oz which i think has led to him talking himself up alittle bit more then ever.
