Just came accross an interesting read on another site saying Montiel and his team offered Vic Darchinyan a massive ammount to set out of the 4 Man Torney and his fight with Abner Mares and fight him in a Unifacation match later this year.

I find this very very hard to believe as Vic has never once shyed away from a challange before and the chance to add some more silver ware to his trophy cabniet. I have always said since they were both in the flyweight division and still to this day that Vic would drop Montiel if they ever came accross each other. Would be a awsome fight either way!!

What do you guys think? Do you see this ever happening? And who do you see winning?? :bbb

Who knows what really goes on in negotiations, i wld think wld not duck the challenge but maybe he is thinking smarter these days as he is coming to the end of the road.

I also head that Vic is interested in the UFC and has a background as a amature wrestler. I think his father was the head coach of the Armenian Olyimpic Wrestling team.

I think that would be a bad move to make after watching the James Toney Randy Corture fight.

Maybe the offer was made but after other agreements had been signed? I struggle to see Vic shying away from a challenge, even if he thought he was sliding he'd rather go out having ago, well that's the impession I get.
Aslo read about UFC but figured he'd chase that last, purely for money. . .Toney never had more than a 3 second chance, that is if he didn't land in 3 secs it was over for him, if Vic does have some wrestling pedigree he could go ok, and it wouldn't bother me provided he was sure he was finished with boxing.

that seems typical that they waited until vic had a contract to fight somebody else.

they had ample time before. but now they offered.

Shaw has just made a release and said that either Montiel or his handerlers are 100% lying. No offer was ever made to vic at any stage of his career, even when Vic was calling him out for months years back.

Shaw stated that the only fighters running are Montiel and Donaire because they both turned down the chace to enter the Showime Tourny and fight Vic because they were suposedly ment to fight each other, but the ****wit Bob Arum failed with that aswel.

All the best to Vic, our most sucsessfull Aussie boxer in modern times!

UFC does not go below Lightweight or 155 pounds.

MMA tho goes all the way down to Flyweight which is 125 pounds.
The WEC in the US is very popular with Bantamweights, Featherweights etc.

    Hardly surprising!

Inside the ring there is only truth. Outside it's a bloody rarity in boxing circles.

Thats right Kegsy, and iv always thought it was a stupid move to only have the lightweights in UFC. I watched alot of PRIDE which is the old Japanese version of UFC and they had all weight classes and also has open weight grand Prix's (fuggen awsome!!).

How would boxing go if they had a organisation like the UFC running the show like MMA? I think it would be different but interesting!!

I think Montiel is a very winnable fight for Vic. Donaire on the other hand is all bad for Vic.
