I think Darchinyan would win a rematch with Donaire. He seriously improved from that fight. Actually learned defense, and how to box. He went from being a puncher to being a combo boxer-puncher. Used the right jab, got defensive head movement, straightened out his punches.

 

I still can't believe Mijares was man-handled like that. I thought he was going to give Vic a boxing lesson, but no such thing happened.

that was great stuff tonight by vic. i have'nt watched much darchinyan fights, did'nt know his hands were that fast. he was keeping it up for 9 rds too. i hope some one slates vic-montiel for next year, or a rematch with donaire.

 

Great win for Vic, he wanted it so badly, he wasn't going to be denied. The knockout was strange in the sense that Mijares was moving backwards, with his hands down, something that i wouldn't expect to see Mijares do. I guess the pressure Vic brought, caused Mijares to make the fatal mistakes wich lead to the knockout. Either way, great win for Vic and hopefully Mijares can learn from this, which i'm sure he will.

I was as surprised as anyone that such a well rounded, well schooled fighter as Mijares, would do that. I don't really know what to say, other than mistakes do happen ? From the offset, he looked real sluggish to me, flat footed, staying within punching range, his movement was non existant, extremely static. He may well have been intimidated ? He was just completely roughed up by Vic, he was thrown completly off his game plan. Mijares is still as good as he's ever been, it's just Vic never let him show it..

 

in the Nonito fight you'll see that Nonito wasnt doing what Mijares was doing earlier, he was moving good and constantly throws the jab to keep Vic away. And then counters Vic all night long, He was studying Vics movement from the get go. Not discrediting Vic, that was a great domination. But dont underestimate Nonito's power, Mijares cant even hurt Vic! which was one of Nonitos attributes. Vic was having pronblems with that.
