After Darchinyan's easy win tonight in Australia(120-103, 119-105, 116-108 against Eric Barcelona(51-18-4, 19 KO'S) now Tomas Rojas could be his next opponent. Javier Altamirano(boxing promoter) said "There's a proposal to fight in California against Darchinyan, we are talking with Sulaiman and Alejandro Brito(Rojas' representant) because we aren't satisfied at all with the way Rojas lost(KO 2) and we are willing to get the rematch". "The WBC is conscious that the way we lost makes us deservant of another chance, Vic landed basically a lucky punch that crowned him". Altamirano added.
It was an easy win on the cards, but one hell of a tough fight for Vic. He didn't look too good and was very sloppy. I don't see the point in a Rojas re-match. But I can see how they wouldn't want to jump in with someone like Donaire after that performance. His corner even told Vic bluntly it was the worst he's ever looked. Nonito Donaire would beat him easier than he did last time if he fights like that against him.
Rojas did have some early success. I guess if popular opinion is that Hasegawa deserves a rematch with Montiel, it would be hypocritical to not say the same of Rojas. :conf
I haven't seen the fight yet, but it doesn't surprise me if Darchinyan looked bad. For Darchinyan a rematch vs Rojas is probably the best option at this point.
:blood He's had two fights since...it's less than six minutes long...what have you been waiting for? :yep
Oh and I just saw this: Apparently the OP didn't see the fight. The scorecards give a very false impression - it was not an easy night at all, according to the RBR provided (and by Australians, fans of VD no less). Vic was hurt a bunch of times, according to those who saw it.
The score did not reflect the fight, Vic was terrible, not sure if it was the broken hand but i thought he was going to get stopped in the 11th
Vic might be out for a while, he did have an xray and the left hand is broken. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...s-one-tough-unit/story-e6freygr-1225869766467
I hear he started the fight with a broken hand, didn't postpone because fans were flying in that he didn't want to disappoint. That and getting older and being in his third weight class and not being Pacquiao, well, if he looked bad, plenty of reason.
The guy he fought was like a mirror image of Vics style, awkward as **** and loading up from all angles, still to Vics credit he did drop him 3 times with a ****ed hand and was the first time he was ever dropped in 72 fights and had him ready to go a but was saved by the bell a couple of times, when Vic did try to put some punches together he looked on another level but the majority of the fight he mainly just used his right hand. You could tell just by looking at Vics face from the 1st round he looked bothered he didn't have that serial killer look he usually has.
