I just checked main event and it appears this fight is being broadcast.......except on tape delay! http://www.mainevent.com.au/event.asp?id=880 The reason is that it crosses over with UFC 124 and since they book their PPV's well in advance us Aussies miss this important fight (Not to mention Agbeko v Perez). Usually we can turn to SKY to pick up the pieces, but it appears they've picked up Khan v Maidana instead http://www.skychannel.com.au/ringside/index.php Why even bother, put it on ONE HD, give him some free exposure then you can entice people to buy the next PPV. Where is the long term marketing.
It will depend on how Mares fights. I think he could outbox Vic if he stuck to boxing, however he does have a tendancy to slug it out when pressured and being young and less experienced I see this happening. I've also read in interviews he wants to prove how tough he is, so again this'll work in Vic's favour. I'm also tipping Vic KO/TKO round 11
who cares mate, long term marketing, your joking right, showtime are putting up the money. little australia means zero
There also appears to be a istake on the Main Event site when they claim it will be showing from 6am on Sunday, the 12th. A bit difficult considering the fight will not take place until about 3pm that afternoon. The Vic v Mares/Agbeko v Perez card will be an absolute ball tearer. Both, along with Katz v Marquez abnd Froch v Abraham (which we will get zero coverage of) , are FOTY candidates!
It's been a while since we saw Vic (was on that free to air card right?) and though he was brutal as ever, he looked sloppy in parts and clearly wasn't listening to his corner all night. He was in absolute top form up until then since the Donaire loss but he's not getting any younger and inactivity could work for or against him. Mares isn't to be taken lightly either. Hope Vic is his Raging Bull self on the night... Sad we wont see it live on TV, have to find other means. What a joke. Such a good card too.
He was also fighting with a broken hand that night, when Vic throws combinations he does very well, hopefully he's in the right headspace, I'd love to see him unify the bantams
Best Vic keeps his left up all night .Ps anyone else looking forward to Perez v King Kong ? Perez Ud i'n that one IMO , Vic put on a terrible display v Kk he shouldn't be losing to guys like that . Concentration is Vic's biggest problem from what I've seen .
I am mos def looking forward to Perez v King Kong! Their first fight was a ******* as was Mares v Perez. Mares is the real deal who may (I hope I am wrong) be about to have his coming out party!
