I remember Kostya's fight was on delay it wasn't aired until 10-11pm in Melbourne.
I think one of the Klits had a WT fight televised on 1hd about a year ago.

Congratulations Elias to yourself and Team Darchinyan, a great effort to secure such a wonderful opportunity for the sport and it's exposure in this country.

    Well done!

I don't want to rain on everybody's party here but is Vic the right sort of guy to promote to the general Aussie public?? The public never really embraced Vic in the past and that's one of the reason's Main event passes on a lot of his fights.

I hope i'm wrong but the average sports fan probably won't tune in.

Personally i love the fight plus the undercard one as well.

    Similar concern as well.

I guess they are banking on two action packed fights drawing people in.

Same applies for dib...if channel seven get behind his cards the onus is on billy to put on much better spectacles than he normally does. And id be certainly making sure i put together a solid under card in case billys fight is a stinker.

I mean the irony here is... they are trying to get this thing off the ground by possibly using a guy who got kicked off hbo and sacked by gbp for being a bore.

I guess the fact he has a belt now is a marketing tool they can run with and he is getting good press lately. But again, he has an obligation to look good
    winning.

Id imagine ch 7 will be throwing big bucks at this which should (hopefully) mean enough to put good support fights on too.

You're right. I'd successfully managed to block that garbage from my head until now.

Thanks to everyone for your well wishes.

Its a great opportunity for Australian boxing going free to air and also for Vic to kick down the door for the exposure that not only he deserves but more importantly the sport of boxing itself needs.

Vic has only been exposed to a maximum of 12,000 fans at any one time on PPV. Fighting in front of 500,000 views is a throwback to the stellar days of the sport where all of us have worshipped and learned to love our Australian legends of the sport.

Its the missing piece to Vic's career, where past greats through one way or the other have had access to mainstream viewer-ship.

This is a breakthrough fight for Vic in Australia, I am sure that network executives here in Australia will finally realise what Showtime have known for a long time. Also this fight will puts Vic only two fights behind the legendary Chavez Snr for most appearances on Showtime, a huge feat in anyone's language. The guys at Showtime know that Vic entertains and he is there to knock-out his opponent and he truly fights for his fans. I can truly say he has never picked a opponent and he wants to fight the best and just win belts.

Hopefully Dec 4th we will have another title.

Thanks for the support, we can't wait to get back and celebrate with all of you.

    Take care
    Elias

Great to hear this fight is on free-to-air.

I wasn't happy Main Event weren't doing this fight live but I am now. Much better that it's on regular tv.

All we need now is for Vic to get the job done.

    Go Vic! Legend.

I think Vic will be a great free to air fight, the genral public don't know many boxers, Vic is exciting to watch so I think it's a great choice, legit title, solid champ, action packed!!
