I never got to saw the fight between Darchinyan vs Gorres at the beginning of the year which resulted in a draw.. From what I heard, fans were throwing objects in the ring and there were a whole lot of slips that could have been ruled KD's or vice versa.. Did ya'll score it a draw as well or how did you see the fight in your eyes?
I read on boxrec that the ref scored a KD on Gorres when the reply showed it was actually a slip.. If the KD wasn't called, then the fight would have a Gorres win by SD.. Anybody else have any views or opinions from the fight?
Darchinyan's people were apparently raging saying they thought Gorres had actually been floored four or five times.
Darchinyan was robbed. Gorres dropped Darchinyan. But it was more of a flash knockdown. Vic was stunned. Darchinyan punished Gorres. To Z credit he battled on was gassed out and was cut ( headbutt). Darchinyan basically roughed him up with elbows headlocks the works.
I had Vic winnning clearly, despite few rough spots early on. There were a few points where he Gorres had him in serious trouble. But Vic came on in the mid and late rounds. There were at least two knockdowns that weren't ruled in favor of Darchinyan (though one knockdown scored for Vic was a push). Even the Filipino broadcasters thought the decision should have went to Vic.
It was a close but clear decision for Vic, the ref ruled the KD on Gorres incorrectly early and was intimidated by the crowd for it which caused him to ref a Gorres biased fight. Gorres has alot of talent and skill but the man cannot fight a full 12 rounds, he gasses and breaksdown after the first half of every 10 or 12 round bout hes had.
Vic won that fight, he got knocked down early on, but returned the favor to Gorrez, at the end of the fight, Gorrez couldn't even stand up, he was constantly falling, those could have easily been counted as knock downs.
Pretty clear for Vic, even without getting get the KDs scored he deserved. Z was basically trying just not to get knocked out later on. Even with the result Vic was still made Kirilov's mandatory so obviously the IBF had their opinion on that fight aswell.
