seriously? legacy? once jones would have beaten dariusz, everyone would be bitching that he still had never fought anyone. most put down jones' victory over ruiz now but that was a much more anticipated fight than rj vs dm would have ever been.

you're going to point to the glen johnson fight on why dm would have a chance? :) why don't we point to dm's fight vs gonzalez. the same gonzalez that jones dominated.

Or how about the example of one of them was 1-1 against a 5"5" guy. The other guy ko'd him and no need for a rematch. Can that one be used as a barometer as well? What physical advantages did Jones not have at his disposal over the light punching Griffin anyway? Would the dq loss be casually dismissed if it was the other guy that got dq'd and lost?

What Johnson did to Roy was to take him out of his comfort zone. Jones loves to fight from that. Who else of note did Johnson ko anyway? Dariusz Michalczewski is not going to cooperate with Jones and let him play to the crowd and dictate, all on Roy's terms. You don't beat a Roy Jones playing that game. You play a different game, like Johnson. Take a look at the guys that made him dig deep and what they brought to the table.....and you think a guy that won like 20 something straight title defenses is not capable of matching or possibly even exceeding that? I do.

Punchstats are not the only way to force action and manouver guys around the ring. Watch Johnson use his footwork and movement to force Jones to the ropes.

griffin is 5'7". i think you know that but arguing facts doesn't really seem to be your strength. yes, prime dm can beat the post-heavy jones but we're talking prime for prime here. dm would have got hurt early and then stayed away taking hardly any chances over 12 rounds. this is how jones' fights went at his best at 175. dm and his people know this and that's why they stayed away. guys that tried to take jones out of his comfort zone were ko'ed early in roy's prime. the fight never happened so we can argue all day but jones would have been a heavy favorite in this fight and then would have received no credit after he had won.

Johnson's footwork and movement? Where have you seen them? On many occasions Jones got to the ropes and Johnson wasn't too quick to follow him, either thinking it a trick or figuring (based on 1st round) he'd just tire himself out trying to hit Jones with something solid and instead missing or hitting the arms, elbows, etc.

Somebody was forcing Roy to move there. If it wasn't Johnson, it must have been the ref then.

Like Jones never retreated to the ropes on his own will ever in his career (that's including amateur career, according to some recollections).
