Well Ross Purity beat a young Wlad along with Gonzalez and Hipp. Dropped Morrison twice and ended up with a draw. And took a seemingly endless list of good fighters the distance, giving some of them trouble. There are others I can think of but won't hog the thread.
Yeah makes you wonder if he might have gone further had something been different. not sure how I'd fix or improve his career though. He was probably just one of these guys who did the best he could with what he had, and frankly I don't think he was a "bum" at all.
he was very strong, I think if he had the right backing or training he would have been up there but he certainly had the foundation physically. A good trainer young may have been able to improve on his skill set
He could really clock and take a great shot too. I've always felt that his 11th round TKO loss to Vitali Klitscko was stopped prematurely. Purity was cut and it was brought to a halt, but probably could have survived the distance.
