Darragh Foley vs. Chris Jenkins & Stephen Ormond vs. George Ashie RBR

Round 1

Ormond is jabbing up high, brushing the foremost bristles of Ashie's mohawk back against the grain. Ormond dropping right hands on the body on the way in. Ashie dancing around, giving him plenty of room, then letting uppercut and line drive combos fly as his back nears the ropes. Ormond catching most of his shots on the gloves but the Ashie left hook is finding a frequent home flush on the unprotected right cheek of Ormond. Ashie is ducking Ormond's 1-1-2 fading into the ropes and coming off bent knee to score a counter uppercut.

Round 2

Ormond is barking in sync with his own swiveling hooks at the body, leaning inside, ducking his bald dome under Ashie's jab and sliding either fist alternately partway over it to defend against rabbit punches. Ormond doing good work, staying in Ashie's chest, and not giving him a clear target for counters. Ashie doing more clinching now than anything, catching Ormond and then releasing him like a small fish. The 1-2 of Ashie is repeatedly getting jammed up on the hilt of Ormond's bent left arm, which is taped nearly to his elbow. More barking & body shots from the Irishman at medium range.

Ormond busier and defending responsibly, taking Ashie off his game by coming in low and only attacking from odd angles downstairs.

Round 4

Ormond is bracing himself up against Ashie on the inside, scoring body shots and then crossing his wrists together to intercept Ashie's attempted sneaky quick uppercuts. Ashie jabbing into the guard as Ormond comes in, then finding himself outfought at close range and invariably tying up to wait for a reset. Ashie not producing many new ideas, taking wide swings high and low with hooks that Ormond is easily able to brush aside with his elbows chicken-winging in the air while he bows his upper body forward and tags Ashie on his middle.

I believe the commentators are correct.

They have Ormond up four-none, it sounds like, citing work rate.

 

Round 5

Ormond is barking exaggeratedly with every shot now, including light jabs over the top. He'll need to mind he doesn't waste too much lung on that. Ashie starting to find a home for, in lieu of anything else working for him, a ball-on-chain right hand, cast high on a prayer and sometimes crashing down into Ormond's cheekbone. It scores alarmingly often, if you're in Ormond's corner. Ormond keeping his gloves over his chin itself and tucking his elbows over his body to stave off any connections from waist to nose, but he's making no adjustments when Ashie pounds him on the upper face. Ormond is still in control, albeit tenuously, circling and jabbing up high while tapping out hooks rhythmically above the hips of Ashie. The work rate of Ashie on the incline, though still below Ormond's.

Ormond getting an earful from his trainer between rounds, telling him that he could be making this fight a lot easier on himself if he didn't get stuck in certain patterns and was just mindful.

He then goes out and barely hangs onto his evaporating lead in activity. 59-55 Ormond.

 

Round 7

Ormond is leaning in headfirst, engine starting to chug with a bit less surety, winding down just as Ashie accelerates his output. Big head-turning counter left hook past a lazy pair of chin-up body shots and Ormond is down!! ...twice!! Ashie blasting him with hooks & uppers. Ormond up and fighting back, scoring some nice short right hands, but the tides have turned. Ashie is setting the pace now.

Round 8

They each jab at nothing and swap long uppercuts downstairs while circling a pace apart. Ormond is dragging his arms, throwing body punches as though underwater. Ashie has also spent a fair wad of energy scoring all those knockdowns in the seventh, and is doing a good deal of tying up here even though Ormond seems there for him to hit. WHOA! Ormond blocks a combo, eats an uppercut, and then clips him with a left hook, barely even seemed to land but Ashie dropped hard, abruptly going straight down in a puddle but immediately getting back up to argue with the ref it wasn't a knockdown. It was.

Fun fight, as I figured.

Round 9

Ormond is getting poked at long range by jabs on the hip, and slapped on the backs of his gloves with long lashing right hands. A few creep by to tickle his shoulder or neckline. Ashie also leaning in with a sideward bent to hook the breadbasket. Ashie much busier now, having taken over the role of general from the flagging Ormond. Ashie is jabbing and falling in with headsman's-ax right hands but washing ashore, beached on the high forearms of Ormond as he leans forward to meet him in the middle of the ring, Ashie's fists and head all colliding with those goalposts before he slinks out and tries again. All the punches now coming from Ashie. Ormond just blocking.

All the Rock needs to do to win on my card is avoid getting dropped again (even that would only net Ashie the draw)...
