Darragh Foley vs. Chris Jenkins & Stephen Ormond vs. George Ashie RBR

Round 10

Ormond is caught with a hook & uppercut combo, then clubbed with a right hand while running in. They grind together atop the Lonsdale logo, then reach around to clap each other on the bicep with flailing hooks. Ashie working some uppercuts with his rear hand, which may be the difference maker in the first minute. Ashie putting together fours and fives in his combos, while Ormond is lucky to string together three. Ormond swinging madly now, very slow but trying to squeeze every drop he can of his reserves. Caught a few times in the crossfire as Ashie also opens up, wildly eschewing defense. Ashie leans on the ropes and slaps Ormond upside the head a few times before being shoulder-tackled into a corner. Lots of wrestling. The ref has to push them apart as they're physically too tired to extricate themselves. Ashie slapping away, contentedly sitting against the turnbuckle. Ormond driving his way in, looking to land body shots, gets a little separation and finds a tiny bit of snap on a straight flurry but is countered and then clinched. Hook downstairs by Ashie. Another clinch, now initiated by a knackered Ormond.

David Brophy vs. Norbert Szekeres, 6 rounds @ light heavyweight

 

"Brophs" entered the ring before his entrance theme had even started... Not sure I've ever seen that.

He was power-marching like he was some kind of KO artist (rather than having three stoppages in 22 bouts, as he does) - or a pro wrestler.

 

I suppose, though, if you're in desperate need of a confidence building KO (as Brophy is, having last appeared in the ring eleven months ago when he got iced by Rocky Fielding in two minutes) then a Hungarian is the way to go...

 

Brophy refuses to even touch gloves with Szekeres. He's a baaaaaad man, now, you see.

 

How on earth was this and not Ormond vs. Ashie made the co-main event?

 

Round 1

Szekeres is standing opposite Brophy in the middle of the ring, both drifting lackadaisically behind their guards, poking out with jabs. First minute is largely a lull, both floating as though in a wave pool, until suddenly Brophy starts ripping HUGE, loud body shots. Nearly doubling Szekeres over. Several more where those came from. Brophy absolutely cracking the midsection of Szekeres. Commentators are shocked he doesn't go down. Szekeres begins to eke out a few jabs and 1-2s, still not abandoning his track orbiting around Brophy at medium-close range. More body shots from Brophy, and some guard-splitting jabs. Szekeres' flanks are entirely red, like a pair of lobsters are climbing out from his trunks.

Not much to report, Brophy wailing away, looking the part, throwing all textbook stuff to head and body that all looks to have at least moderate starch on it, but Szekeres refuses to go down. Just riding that carousel with dizzying consistency, hunched forward, covering up, occasionally petering out a jab or body shot of his own.
