Wasn't his only mistake. He also said "and the millions around the world" instead of "and the millions watching around the world" which is a rare slip for Buffer, but he's only Human, Lol.
so true, but as long as he does his "leeettt'sss get ready to ruummmbllleeeeee!!!!!" the casual fans and the promoters will be happy:nut
He's been slipping for a while now. More and more mistakes creeping in. He's borderline shot so someone should come in and take his scalp while he still has a high name-value :deal Buffer vs Lennon on an undercard?
I don't think 'he's only human' cuts it. If you're going to get something wrong don't get the combatants name ****ing wrong. Get his weight wrong or the name of his hometown. Especially when its a very simple name. Pretty poor when you're reading off a cue.
Sorry but no, just no. He has one thing to do. There's absolutely no excuses for it. The very first thing he should ask is "how are their names pronounced", this isn't complicated stuff, ring announcing 101. It was ****ing disgraceful.
I think Buffer realised he messed up Barkers name halfway through saying it cos his voice altered but was too late lol
Yep poor showing from buffer, i'm a stickler for details and i hate that sort of thing happening. Presumably, being professional and all, he would of at least read the card before the bout to check names etc?
It's pretty poor form when all he has to do is get the fighters names correct? He's also reading off a card which makes the mistake even worse. Lack of preperation for a world title fight? Poor.
Buffer lost his hunger for boxing after doing the wrestling shows. He needs to look to Larry Merchant for inspiration, the B-hop of boxing broadcasting. If the sight of old Larry squaring up to Floyd didn't rouse something in him, well, it's time to hang up that microphone. When stepping in to the ring lately he looks like he's just getting ready to mumble.
