Darren Barker has a glass chin

Barker was hurt by the previous right hook that did get through, the final blow was took partially on the glove but there was enough behind it to finish and already hurt fighter. Say what you want but the fact you start a thread about glass jaws based on this shows how easy it is for some to discredit.

There's a whole lot of Stupid on ESB. A whole lot. The guy was tired. He'd been hit a lot. He got caught behind the glove, behind the ear. That was it. No dive, no glass chin. Just a tired fighter who got caught in the right spot at the right time. End of fight.

 

Just accept it. He stood up all fight with his gloves in front of his face, ala Clottey vs Pac. There are other ways to "survive" besides running.

Anyway, he just had no business in the ring with Martinez. I guess everyone pretty much knew it, and also why Martinez "hand picked" him.

 

That was just because he's limited as a fighter. You can't expect him to have his hands down, when Martinez has had such great wins recently. I just don't believe you should throw any criticism at Barker, he did as good as his ability allowed to.

And I agree with the last statement to an extent. I believe Barker deserved a World Title fight (maybe not now, but in a couple of fights), but he's not good enough to give Martinez a true test (although he gave it a good go).

No.

It was just weird, is all. He showed a pretty good chin, IMO. Then a short, kind of blunt right hook has him down for the count (and it didn't seem like he was totally gassed either).

I'll have to watch it again when disposed with more time (that is, when not embroiled in the Top Rank replay) and try to puzzle out how it is that Martinez was able to hurt him with what looked like a very middling punch compared to some of the lefts he'd landed earlier.

Yet another thread confirming that a large percentage of posters,have absolutely no knowledge of the fight game.Id hazard a guess,that they do nothing more than watch HBO and Showcase fights,and post **** on the general section.
At least there are some on here,who post enough sense to stop me deleting my account.
