barker beats sturm for me, the only 50:50 fight is murray and martinez, i think quillins pretty beatable. he gets laid out by GGG.
Maybe Sturm in Germany and Geale in Australia would be big paydays for Barker. Winnable too of course.
I would forget Geale, he is not going to make much money against him. Sturm yes. I must admit not seen much of him but Barker should beat him :good
Well done to Barker, he toughed it out. Geale is good, but bloody hell he makes any fight hes in look scrappy. Get Strurm over for Barker in November, Murray or Lee in the spring and a cash out vs GGG or someone.
Well Done to Barker.... Just shows keep going never give up, Braker proved dreams can come true, very happy for him.
Just out of interest who else had barker 3 up after 3 rounds, I certainly didn't matter of fact I would of had geale up, thinking Geale may have been shafted a bit over this fight. I like barker love his story, but I'm struggling to see barker the winner a draw at best..
I had Barker squeaky clean through four. :conf The 1st and 4th were close, and posters here were split with some giving either to Geale and some to Barker - but the 2nd and 3rd were quite emphatically Barker's...as were the 7th-11th. Geale clearly took the 5th, 12th, and obviously the 6th with the extra margin for the knockdown.
Barkers beat round of the fight was the 10th by a mile stone. Need to re watch it 2 nd and 3 rd looked close to me.. Felt geale was a bit more busy even thoe barker was the aggressor felt he was matched for punches.
What i liked about barker was he completely shocked Geale by taking away his best asset -workrate. I quoted Barkers punch output he really out punched Geale which is surprising. I also liked the way Barker was prepared to risk being in the dangerzone a little longer then Geale did just to get the last punch in (but left him exposed i.e 6th round body shot). He really put it on Geale and just kept on it. I think this was Barkers highest punch output fight. Spot on tactics (even though barker wanted to trade a little)
mstar, he also was able to take away from Geale's work rate by leaning on his head and neck. Eddie Cotton did warn him a number of times but not that FINAL, definitive warning, so good tactic by Barker. Yes, he was very, very good and prepared well. He thoroughly deserved the win. Could have gone either way and I think, that is the 'blueprint' if they should meet again. These two could fight 10 times and it would be carbon copy, back 'n' forth, two way action like this. Your comment regarding a rematch with Geale not being a cash spinner for Barker, in my view is incorrect. It would pack out O2 Arena due to this action packed fight, or elsewhere, make him a good quid and it would be winnable. Makes real sense to me. Anyone thinking Sturm will come to UK is deluded. He has the $$$ to offer Barker. It will never look like going to purse bid.
I had Barker 2-1 up at that stage. First was very close, 2nd was quite close too, third was certainly Barkers. Fourth was Geales. Barker actually took more rounds in the second half which won him the fight, he clearly won 7, 10 and 11 and 9 was close but probably Barkers too. Only clear rounds for Geale were 4, 6 (KD), probably 8 and probably 12. Most I could see Geale winning was 6 rounds if you gave the close rounds his way, which meant 114-113 was reasonable but Barker winning was the right result, just about.
