Yafai says he isn't pleased with his own performance.

He's eager to do better next year.

He credits Perez for being tough and coming in to have a go.

He wants to put his name up with the best UK bantamweights starting in 2013, and then eventually maybe the world.

 

John Ryder vs. Eamonn O'Kane, 10 rounds @ middleweight

 

Round 1

Ryder is ducking in and throwing quick right hooks before rolling to the side and dodging O'Kane's scoops to the body. O'Kane keeps curling the right in underhanded to the moving target of Ryder's midsection. Lots of tying up as Ryder hangglides in and bows his head to let O'Kane's arms drape over his upper back. Ryder ducks a 1-2 and counters with a left to the body while holding. Right jabs by Ryrder. Lead right hand by O'Kane, countered by a right hook on the sidestep by Ryder.

Round 2

O'Kane throws a left jab and right uppercut combo from outside. Ryder keeps his left arm tucked at his side but does a quarter spin to catch an O'Kane body shot on his elbow. Not much offense yet from Ryder, just keeping his right held low and slipping shots. Lunging attack by O'Kane, rights getting blocked but the left hook skirting around Ryder's guard and bopping him on the head as he bends forward. Clinch. Ryder lands a double right hook on the inside. O'Kane ducks the next one. Ryder hooks the body as O'Kane misses a lunging pair up top. O'Kane digs a right hand under the elbows and tries to move Ryder with a big left hook upstairs. Corkscrew right by O'Kane misses. Ryder is backed up nearly to the ropes and stands firm to tie O'Kane up. A bit of nicking to the body in the clinch by both, and a few slaps behind the head.

Round 3

O'Kane is covering up and leaning in as Ryder pops the southpaw 1-2 into his arms. O'Kane tries a looping right to the head whie barging in. Ryder defends and folds himself up to catch body shots on his elbows. Ryder works uppercuts to the body while leaning in. Nice right hook to the face sends O'Kane tilting to the side. Wild left hooks by O'Kane. Ryder gets whacked with a looping right to the temple from outside but counters with a short right hook stepping by. Wild shots by O'Kane, trying to clap Ryder in between a high left and a right upper. Quick right hooks by Ryder, and he gets back behind his jab. Nice 1-2 by Ryder. O'Kane slaps at him up top with his left and Ryder ducks and slips. NICE left uppercut off the ropes by Ryder. Clinch.
