If Barker ducks Macklin there can be no excuses for the man. I mean this is Barkers chance to get world ranked by all organizations and within a stone throw off a world title , the dream for every boxer. Whats Barker going to do if he vacates the EBU belt to avoid macklin? Barker has to fight macklin at aged 28 he wont get a better chance to catapult himself on to world scene. The fight will happen i think and i will give credit to Barker for stepping up.

    Deal.

If I win, I will choose a picture of Barker sparko on zee canvas with the soles of his boots exposed to the world and left kneecap twiching as the nervous energy leave to prostrate shell.

If I lose, do I get the picture of you dress as an Irishman in the states on St. Patricks Day? ;)

I think Barker will be stopped whilst ahead on the cards, should be a decent fight. Barker can definitely pull this off though, hes gt the skills just maybe not the chin, his power is deceptive and underrated.

Macklin claims it will be a titanic showdown against an opponent whom he respects. “In fairness to Darren he could have dodged me and he didn’t,” he said. “I am his mandatory challenger for his European title, but that doesn’t mean anything in boxing these days.
“Darren wants to prove himself to me and I want to do the same to him. We are both 28 so the fight has come at a perfect time.
“I also think both of us are more talented than Benn and Eubank, I really do. Steve Collins beat both of them and yet my coach Freddie Roach, who trained Steve, said Collins wouldn’t have been good enough to lace my boots. Benn v Eubank was different though. There you had two very contrasting personalities in the ring. Benn basically hated Eubank and Eubank didn’t think much of Benn.
“I have always got along with Darren and I would be the first to say he is a good fighter. We won’t be slagging each other off in the build-up because there is no need. There is a healthy rivalry there but there won’t be any real malice because everyone I have spoken to says Darren is a nice bloke.
“I have got a better pedigree behind me. I was better than him as an amateur and I have been beating everything put in front of me inside the distance in the last couple of years.

Chris won his 1st world title aged 24, Benn was 26 , and collins was 24. I think all three could of been 2 weight world champs the time they were 28 like Macklin and Barker LOL different class.

I should hope so. I guess Freddy was just motivating him but he couldn't have really meant what he said, if he did say that to Macklin. That trio were top notch stuff. It was a great period at 168 back then.
