Darren barker vs Matthew macklin 18th of sep, who wins?

that bull****. if macklin was better than steve collins do you think he would of got beaten up in sparring at the wildcard and come back to england with his tale between his legs. his training with joe gallagher again not freddy roach.

 

You dont know what you are talking about Rob (no shock there) - who beat Macklin up in sparring? Tell us exactly what happened then.

"Tail between his legs" - eh, whats the point in recuperating from the broken nose in LA?

Wont be with Joe for the fight, although Joe may be involved in some capacity - and why wouldn't you want a man like Joe in your corner? Macklin didn't leave Joe because of his training techniques.

Barker says:

"I've got the titles but there's something that's missing and that's number one status. I want to be number one in the country," he said.

"There's no point having the titles but not being number one. I believe I'm number one but I need to prove it."

"My natural toughness has been underestimated when it comes to fighting in the trenches because I'm tall, upright and a smart boxer," he said.

"But I'm a competitive person and I love the sport. If this fight does go into the trenches I'll be ready for war.

"Something that always gets brought up is my chin, but I've been knocked down twice and that's it.

"I've sparred with the biggest hitters you can imagine and didn't move. I haven't been knocked out.

"I've been wanting to fight Matthew for a while now and the two-year difference will suit me more.

"We're both 28 but I'm a younger and fresher 28 while he's been in some wars and is an old 28. That will show on September 18."

 

I asked Joe Gallagher on facebook he told me he is training Macklin again.

Macklin just didn't cut it. Goldenboy were ready to offer him a big deal but after hearing about how he got on in sparring are the wildcard they pulled out. Thats why he is back in england instead of fighting in the US. Remember he had bigger fish to fry than Barker. He sees a bad performance and decides its now time to risk it.

Like I said, the plan at the moment is for Macklin to do a few weeks with Joe before he heads back to the Wild Card. He will do his camp their and then come back to England two weeks before the fight and will finish off the final preparation here and Freddie will fly in for the couple of days before the fight.

Macklin is going to carve a hole in Barkers body and leave him shivering in the foetal position like a new born lamb. Anyway, keep polishing Barkers nuts! Toodle pip!

If I am polloshing Barkers nut then you are letting Macklin continually ram you up the ass while your family members film.

So Freddie Roach is going to miss a week of his camp with Manny Pacquiao's biggest fight to look after Matthew Macklin.....fair enough I will beleive it when I see it.

i think barkers slick boxing will cause macklin all sorts of problems, my only worry is will barker dig as deep as macklin to win the fight as he never had to up till now

 

This should be an excellent fight but I see Barker just edging it on points.

ok he may not have won against moore but showed he was willing to dig deep! i was only pointing out that we have never seen barker dig deep before and although i think barker will outbox macklin to win, you never know how a fighter will react when dragged into the trenches

 

thats the same arguement people put forward for Floyd Mayweather vs Ricky Hatton.

we have seen Macklin in the trenches and he got stopped.
