He doesnt have an opponent yet, but its a good match, Smith is a good test for Barker. He has been saying he really wants to fight in England, he hasnt got a promoter so is it easy business?

    or

Has it got to be for Euro title.

Good shout. Doubt they go for him but it would make sense for him to get accustomed to American style of fighter.

Smith gives Barker a fair bit of trouble if they do fight I think.

Yep he kinda showed up Danny Jacobs IMO and was a reason why i didn't buy into hype etc. He can turn it on when he wants to Smith and has upset applecart a few times before.

Barker starts well and unravels as fight goes on and Smith could trouble him late and make it a rough night's work.

Whats the point in fighting him from Barker and teams POV? Thats what you've got to ask, to realize this won't happen.

Smith is the classic do enough to lose fighter though, theres a reason he always comes up short in his big fights, and it isnt all because of bad decisions. He might give Barker a tough fight in a lot of the rounds but let it slip away from him like he has before.

Were Darren himself the "start slow and build up a head of steam" type I might agree with that, but he himself seems to be a bit of a fader.

Ishe Smith will probably lose via split decision. He's very good but can be lazy at times. Saying that Barker won't put a dent in Smith and he'll probably hurt Barker more with his combinations.

Cos of the risk/reward factor it won't happen.

Smith is looking for a fight in England though, can't see one of the top promoters putting their middles in against him. Just not worth it.
