This is my first look at Leigh Wood, really liking him.

    Round 4

McDonnell is rocking back and forth, spine held stiff and straight, gloves up over his cheeks, looking to counter with the 1-2 as Wood darts in and combines uppercuts on the body. Wood is doubling the jab, mostly the left as he stays in his natural orthodox stance for most of the fourth. Wood is moving straight out and in, getting predictable but still having success landing his body shots and leaving before McDonnell can mount any counterattacks although he is catching the chin of Wood more often with the jab.

    10-9 Wood, close

    38-37 Wood

    Round 5

McDonnell is peering out over his knuckle pads and looking for a right hand on the body. He gets one in but Wood is shimmying inside and scoring right hand leads (or right jabs when his right foot is out front) and then backing out. Wood is landing body shots turning McDonnell. NICE straight and forceful quadruple 1-2 by Wood, bursting through McDonnell's guard. McDonnell is whipping in long uppercuts above the crotch with his right. McDonnell is warned for straying low. McDonnell has a cut under the hairline. McDonnell trades uppercuts downstairs with Wood on the inside. Clinch. Jab by Wood missing, right uppercut on the belt line by McDonnell. Wood is wrestled back a few steps and then shoved outright. McDonnell misses a jab.

    10-9 Wood

    48-46 Wood

The Nottingham man would IMO be pitching a clear shutout through now if not for the knockdown ruling.

    Round 6

McDonnell is taking Wood's body shots and biding his time. McDonnell covers up and leans forward. Wood is jumping in hitting the body, tiring. McDonnell starts to line up his right hand. Wood is hurt. McDonnell lays it on!! Jabs and crosses, short hooks!! Wood tries diving in to press into McDonnell without opening his arms to clinch, amateurishly, but McDonnell steps back and keeps drilling him!! The ref moves in, TKO! No, just resetting them! More blistering attacks from McDonnell! WOOD IS DONE!

    TKO6!!!

That ref is probably a imported Brit.

They probably revoke his passport now

    Yeah.

He set his internal alarm clock for 8:45pm, apparently. :!:

He was sleepwalking before that. (aside from the early knockdown in the 1st)

What was the ref thinking, breaking it for the first time? Good finish from McDonnell

Thought tonights boxing was going to be awful but it's been quite good so far.

Wood can return from that. Only young at 25 and the kid has talent.

I know, that was bizarre. At first it seemed he was getting in to save Wood, then it seemed maybe he was about to give a count, and then he just beckoned them continue. It's like OK,, so why get your grubby mitts in between them in the first place?
