That awkward little midget Griffin is underrated too.. At his best he was a very good fighter... He was landing some good shots on DM too until you know what happened... I actually see DM winning rounds against Roy who would have fought conservative being weary of DM's power. I see a 116-112 type decision for Roy, which is why Roy didnt want to go over there.
Back then I was a casual and mostly followed the popular fighters, but after I became more educated Jones-DM not happening was almost tragic to the sport... And I blame them both.
As do I. Both are to blame. And I think both of them would have been viewed in a better light had they fought. The fact that they co-existed as champions for years in the same weight class without facing one another is a perfect example of one of the many things that's wrong with boxing.
No one really knows how Froch would've done against the LHW's and you're putting him against one of the top of the previous decades. Judging Darius by his other wins, I'd say Darius tops Froch. No one Froch lost to would've beaten Darius.
:thumbsup This hypothetical match-up is inherently unfair to Froch. It's like pitting Alvarez against Hagler. I would favor DM against Kessler and Ward, but I'd give Ward something like a 40-60 chance with DM.
Glad you agree, sir! Unless you're slick and you stick to a plan, you're in for a long night against Carl.
Same thing with Ward, who I am a fan of. He hasn't shown me anything at LHW so it's very hard to make an accurate assessment. Darius has Virgil Hill, and a few other American slicksters, boxer punchers etc under his belt. He has all of the usual suspects on his resume. Great big guy beats Great little guy, usually.
Don't have a problem with people picking Darius over Carl, but i'm tiring of the amount of uneducated inbreds that continue to predict that a man with a granite beard that was never stopped in his career, would lose by KO. Care in the community has a lot to answer for.
Logically everything suggests DM would win. Too big, too fast, too powerful, too good technically. But that's been the case with a lot of Froch opponents and he's more often than not beat the faster, technically better boxer. If DM can force Froch back and subdue him then he likely wins. But if Groves hitting him flush repeatedly couldn't keep him subdued then maybe Froch can soak up everything DM dishes out as well and make it a grueling fight and Froch coming from behind to win isn't an impossibility. I'd favour DM but his aggressive style suits Froch and I think Froch can be at least be competitive. But DM on points is the most likely outcome.
