I don't agree with the statement personally, but I think he is saying given Australian fighters more exposure within American which would be correct. Mundine has done more for boxing within Australia however.
shane, why would i want to make light heavy? for a pay cut? the lightest i will ever fight at is prob 103kg, currently im 108
I'm interested in how MUNDINE has done anything for boxing in Australia? Kat has drawn interest in the USA.If he was to get to star status I would pay to see him fight. And if he could comeback to fight in Australia for a really big fight against a name opponent one of the major networks would piut it on TV.
Drawn huge interest in Australian boxing over since 2001 when there was absolutely noone here with any pulling power apart from KT
He has continued to raise the exposure of the sport significantly, as many people in Aus want to see him knocked out. He is contraversial and had caught the eye of the media much more then any other fighter including Katsidis, although internationally I think Kat and Vic are bigger names, as they have appeared on major PPV cards.
One thing also the number of boxing promotions per year went down in the period between 2000-2005. We had way more per year in the 80's and 90's. Mundine made the most out of it, not Aussie boxing.
