Only won 1 round against Ortiz. 1 judge only gave him a round against Povetkin. He’s definitely a Euro level fighter, I’d have him around the Chisora level personally. He fluctuates with his weight a lot, too. Around the 255-265ib range...clearly made an effort for the Povetkin fight (245ib). So no idea what version turns up against Allen. That’s the only very slight chance I’d give Allen, that Hammer turns up like a right fat pudding and Adam Smith and co influence the judges the night before with a lovely hotel, meal and brown envelope slipped under the door, and Allen sneaks a dodgy decision on cards.

Hammer by stoppage.

 

I’d get it if Hammer had a fragile mandible & thinking was that Allen could throw an overhand right from the Gods a la the Webb fight but that isn’t the case. As has been said I just don’t get the logic here, someone like Little or Ali makes far more sense

Dave Allen is a symbol of the double edged sword.

He could be perceived as an excellent role model to many people from various walks of life, but at the same time a metaphor for luck.

In this case, it's not your talent, it's your ability to attract an audience. 15 years ago, without smartphones and rampant social media, Dave Allen might've been doing a good job fitting your double-glazed windows (he might've also made a mess of them). He might've been on the BBC Watchdog Rogue Traders segment ripping off some old granny (he might not have, he loves his Nan). Whatever the case is, he wouldn't have been a regular on Sky cards, a regular on Sky Sports various media platforms in general and he certainly wouldn't be the proud owner of the multiple investment properties he's sure to slip into every interview.

It's about being in the right place, at the right time, and by god Davey has that down to a tee.

Despite what he says, his speech is already slurring and the fact that he's a "hard, hard man" may lead to his downfall, not in boxing because it seems as though Fast Eddie loves the fact he's a punchbag, but in life. If I were him, I'd seriously consider turning my hand to property investment. Any old Tom, Dick or Harry can make a successful and easy career out of it if you have enough starting capital. Start small, stay frugal and get the hell out of boxing before it's too late.

Very strange fight this ? Maybe they got Hammer on the cheap but very unlikely Allen wins . Like previous posters said why not Kash Ali or Tom little both quite known now on by the casual . Unless Hammer is totally shot or not motivated at all how can Allen beat him ?

My understanding is they wanted to get Allen up rankings with a good win so he could have a crack at one of the belts that will be vacated once Dubois and Joyce fight.

My understanding was MTKs Plan for Allen was Hammer, Carman or Thomas for the Commonwealth and then Wardley for the British if the titles are vacant by then.

my guess is the Thomas fight is pushed forward or he fights someone like Marcin Siwy who is 21-0 and only managed a draw against sprott a few years back.
