I like Dave a lot but to be taken seriously he needs a good 3 or 4 fights and wins under his belt. He always seems to talk a good game at this stage, he’s going to do this and that but then he falls out with someone and goes back to square one. He needs a proper trainer too - someone who will tell him what to do. His previous problems was he never had this, which is why he didn’t stick in at the Ingles or with Jamie Moore. Although his head now seems in the right place and he’s grown up a lot in the last few months with the baby.
I would love to see Allen in with a man his size who can bang rather than a Croatian Cruiser that's shorter than the 6ft 1 he's down as. Also Allen in with someone not paid to lose, that would be good, it's been good in the past.
Babic's time as unbeaten is probably coming to an end. He's not going to the top of any division with that style and defensive quality. If Allan gets himself right (i'm not sure he will) then the timing could work for a fight later in the year. All depends when Eddie wants to cash out Babic.
Babic is fighting for the WBC World Bridgerweight Title next I think. He could lose that fight though to be honest. I think Babic will beat Allen because Allen doesn't live the life and trains himself.
There was a time when I supported Dave Allen (around the time of his first long sit down IFL interview that got a bit deep with his gambling and so on), but I just wish he'd go away now, and never make another vague post on social media about a comeback again.
Dave Allen against Fraser Clarke on September 2 will be announced next week. Will be chief support apparently.
It's an easy way for Sky to sell the idea that Clarke is facing a 'name' but we all know Allen is terrible now and hasn't been active at all.
