He won’t come back he just gets bored every few months when people have forgot he existed, gets a 3 day burst of motivation, blasts it all over Instagram and then jibs it off. It’s the equivalent of a prime Johnny Vegas telling you he’s going on a diet every Saturday night in the pub, starting Monday morning. Then the next Saturday him saying the same thing, for years. And years. And years.
I quite like Dave Allen, sure he’s a bit of a dreamer but who isn’t! At least he gets in the ring and gives it a go, usually as a huge underdog against top ranked guys. Speaks pretty well in interviews and always seems to have good intentions. Personally I don’t get the hate on here for him. He’s a decent enough British level fighter.
Terrific post. I've heard some refer to him as a dirty match-fixer who talks shite and is full of himself. I would have to disagree with these posts as such a decent, salt of the earth type bloke like Allen simply would never fix a match. They cite the Dorian Darch and Lucas Browne bouts as evidence, both of which were hard fought and clearly with no signs of match-fixing. These men are jealous that they are not Dave Allen. They go on to cite Allen's social media posts in which he talks about himself. He only does this to keep his fans updated on what's going on in his life. It is my belief that he hates doing these posts as he's obviously the humble sort and he probably gets a bit embarrassed opening up so much but he puts the fans first so he does it anyway. He definitely doesn't try hard to be funny. He is just naturally funny. His interviews are equally as hilarious as the online posts. Nothing wrong with being a bit of a dreamer at all. It's clear he does this to give himself a bit of a mental boost. He doesn't do it to make his fans, who some refer to as extreme casuals, believe that he is actually a good boxer. He definitely doesn't do it to manipulate the perceptions of fans, and women. He's a humble bloke. He's a very decent British level fighter and that has nothing to do with his ability to take a punch. Some on here have said he'd be hopeless without that asset. I disagree. His footwork is superb, his jab is terrific and when he lets his hands go you can barely see the combinations because his hands are moving about that fast. Besides, he doesn't take many punches anyway as he has good head movement. He sets a good example for the young lads he coaches.
Hard work pays off. He looks to be taken things seriously now. He would beat Dubois. He takes his power and grinds out a stoppage. A fun fight that would be while it lasted though!!
He's done. He gets in such bad shape so quickly, he doesn't live anything like the life. If he wants to carry on living his Rocky Balboa dream in small hall shows stopping journeymen that's fine but he needs to let go of this narrative he's been trying to create that he's owed a Babic or a British Title fight, boxing owes him nothing, he's very lucky not to have been pulled up for misdemeanours in the past, his career is full of dodgy incidents post Lenroy Thomas as Hearn tried to build him back up. Ultimately a fat lad that bit off more than he can chew but he's made some very good money from it for the ability and dedication that he showed.
He's stuck his gut out for the first shot and stood up straight under lights for the second, I can't believe people are buying into this and, without wanting to bodyshame, he's supposed to be a professional sportsman, that is not good shape. That's the kind of shape that, combined with fairly limited ability, little dedication and an over reliance on a decent chin, sees you go life and death with an unknown Argentinian who was paid to lose but didn't read the script.
This content is protected So he is back on a Matchroom show? I think in itself shows how shite the MR British roster is at present
No he is in a 4 rounder on a small-hall show in Sheffield. He said he's had no contact with Matchroom or Boxxer since his last retirement. He said he wants to win in February and then ideally wants Wardley and then Babic.
